There's been some statistical analysis. Within 1.5 seconds, a level 3 sentry becomes a level 2, and a level 2 becomes a level 1. It then takes 9 seconds for a level 1 to completely dismantle.

Now, do we know how long it takes for a sentry to be destroyed by a normal sapper? 8.6 seconds to destroy a level 3, 7.2 to destroy a level 2 sentry, and 6 seconds to destroy a level 1 sentry.

In 3 seconds, you've destroyed 400 metal of time and effort by the Engineer. This sapper actually encourages kamikaze runs because the dismantling process is so fast the Engineer cannot physically react to it fast enough without being right next to the sentry and paying the Spy zero attention.

As someone who plays a lot of spy: that is disgustingly overpowered.

I also agree. It takes the skill out of being a spy and I won't be using it. Just like I spit on the Enforcer.

Yeah that sapper, I dunno, I'll give a go and apparently Valve is listening to you Lying, they doubled the regrading time, so there's that. The new pyro weapon is the equavilant to the sun-on-a-stick for scout, and the new heavy weapon it's there and I'm sure Kobra will somehow make himself immune to the fire someway, and I might try the cleaver, but who knows as for a s bleed weapons, I quite like my boston basher.

The damage done to the Engineer's efforts by the tape recorder is greater in 3 seconds than it is to the normal sapper's harm in almost 9. Sentry upgrade is 200 metal, sentry repair is much less. And that's not considering if the Spy saps everything in the nest, reversing progress on dispensers and teleporters as well.

It's amazing how little care and thought seem to be given for balancing Spy items considering that's the usual reason cited for the Engineer getting so few.

Well sir here's how I look at it on things we need:
Engie secondaries and a primary
Spy watches
Mediguns
and damn DemoMAN weapons, NO MORE SWORDS, yes there fun, but including vanilla the demoman only has 8 weapons that don't have to deal with knighting about.

I think they've actually more or less fulfilled the main options with the watches, I can't really imagine any other possibilities that wouldn't just rehash what they've already done.

Yeah, there's nothing else for the watches. They gave us everything that we had in the early days. Dead Ringer for our corpse decoy and back to the original always on stealth.

I dunno lying, a personal watch slot item I came up with sort of is a big cigar for a watch that on m2 it would release a smoke screen with it's size depending on the amount of cloak you have.

Between the typical Spy strategy and the rather wide array of area-spread weapons in TF2 (Miniguns, grenades, rockets, flamethrowers, etc.) I don't think that would be very effective.

That and all you'd need to do is lower your graphics and the smoke would be gone, unless Valve come up with a genius way to bypass that.

Fair enough, but I'm just saying even when you think all options have been filled, there will always be something new to completely changes things up.

New watch idea: like the Dead Ringer, but instead of faking your death, produces another AI-guided spy, who also has this watch.

Repeat ad infinitum.

Spy-mageddon.

If they made a "ghost" Spy (instead of a new one) that actually seems like a decent alteration, but I think the Spy has a few too many avoid-death tricks already.

When you say avoid death don't you just mean the spy being played by Kobra
