Modern Warfare 3 preparation
So currently watching the video from XP2011 and talking about Elite, I got wondering, what about a LRR Clan?
But first, who is ordering it and waiting for it?
16 maps, mobile device and web support, change your load outs and check on the people who were owning you the night before. Each new online game type is different. New types of classes and perk, new kill streaks for each type of player as well.
Whos getting it day one?

I will. I finish the campaign before I touch mulitplayer though

I will finish the campaign and probably never touch the multiplayer.

Re: Modern Warfare 3 preparation
I generally do. This time though I might go back and forth. Its funny, just like GoW3, I got it for the story rather than the multiplayer. Then again, IMO GoW3 multiplayer sucks.

Re: Modern Warfare 3 preparation
MW2 wasn't quite as good as COD4, and with the majority of the Infinity Ward leadership leaving after MW2 I can't imagine MW3 will be any better.
I'd say I'll probably pick it up on a sale in a couple months, but it is Activision and Call of Duty, so the first sale for the PC version will be a year after launch, and only bring it down to $40, and by that point there will be $45 worth of DLC.
As such, I'm placing MW3 in the same category I put Black Ops; if someone gives me a free copy I probably will not complain about the game much.

Re: Modern Warfare 3 preparation
The problem with the COD multiplayer is this: the game comes out and lots of people go buy it, everyone jumps onto multiplayer and has a great time. So far so good. Three months pass and the casual fans start to fall away and all that remains is the fucktard "I'm a real sniper" idiots who have learned the map backwards and forwards and know all the little glitches and tricks and spend the entire map acting like dicks on their headsets as they rack up more and more kills. The multiplayer stops being fun. And if a casual fan logs in all they hear is 14 year old wankers screaming down their headsets about how they "totally raped your ass".
So for three months have fun, after that trade it in and play something better. And if you are one of those sniper fucktards, go eat a dick.
The best commentary on this whole culture is the youtube and machinama series "how to annoy people in MW2/black ops" that guy is very funny and nails the whole culture and how stupid it is.

Excuse me while I go give a damn.
I'll play it for the singleplayer, probably return it soon after. Bro will probably buy it cause he's an idiot, then i'll troll on his account.
Like always.

Yeah, this seems like the one I borrow to grind through the single player. Too bad all my friends are poor right now.

Like, all CoDs you mean?
Yeah, I've been burned too many times. Fool me once, shame on you, etc.

So... anyone up for some NHL '12?

I mostly meant the games since CoD4, but I guess the rest of them, too.

Re: Modern Warfare 3 preparation
While I love the 'Modern Warfare' series (the first being my favorite) I doubt I'd ever play the multiplayer. I've heard vastly too many horror stories about the CoD multiplayer in general. I think I'll just stick with doing the 'special ops' style missions.

Re: Modern Warfare 3 preparation
CoD multiplayer can actually be enjoyable, once you nuke text chat and hit the "Mute All" button.
I will certainly be playing both SP and MP in MW3 (pre-loading as I type), even though there's an achievement for STARTING the SP campaign.
Sheesh...

Re: Modern Warfare 3 preparation
For all the MW2 MP horror stories I've heard, I've never encountered a problem that the mute function or a quick server change didn't fix.

Am I the only person who really wants to see a new Timesplitters? I mean, not to harsh on the Modern Warfare/Battlefield crowd. You like it, awesome. But it seems like the FPS scene is due for a burst of high-level silliness. Something with monkeys.

Isn't that what Saint's Row is for?
Either way, just finished 14 hours of pre-load. Good Grief!

Re: Modern Warfare 3 preparation
Saints Row isn't an FPS, though. Nor competitive.
Timesplitters, especially the awesomeness of Timesplitters 2 (the best one), is both of those. Plus, it's brain breakingly fast; way, way faster paced than Modern Warfare/Battlefield or Halo. It's more Unreal Tournament paced.
But, and this is what makes it better than Unreal Tournament, it has a game mode in which whomever is coming first gets assaulted by gangs of monkeys.

Which is not to be sneezed at...
I know SR isn't an FPS. It IS silly, though... Looks like the upcoming third installment will be the silliest yet.

Re: Modern Warfare 3 preparation
The shop round the corner from me has been selling MW3 since saturday morning, the pile they had was higher than the counter itself and people were rushing in to buy the game at £49.99, 9.99 over the price it will be as of tomorrow. Personally I ignored MW3 and asked if they would have Skyrim earlier, they said probably not so I can wait til friday.

Re: Modern Warfare 3 preparation
Well, that was the MW3 SP campaign. Good story in a well-known engine, but no more than a taster before Spec Ops and Multi-Player. Was over (on Regular difficulty) in 4 hours and 45 minutes.
It had a good sense of closure to the MW saga.
