GTA 5 announced

Postby RobertMc123 » 25 Oct 2011, 08:28

So they have announced GTA 5, before the spooge-fest begins I figured gather peoples thoughts on GTA 4 and both episodes and what they did wrong and what they could do right in this new game.

I personally want to see them go bat-shit crazy and follow up San Andreas, ditch the "realistic" edge they went for in 4.
Also incorporate some things from Red Dead Redemption, such as the multiplayer lobby being the open world map. The random events from RDR and side missions.

I'm just hoping GTA5 is to GTA4 what Vice City was to GTA3.

I've only just started playing GTA4. This seems to happen any time I get round to catching up on something.

I personally hope that in GTA V it'll be possible to drive cars like someone with the gift of sight.

I can get behind that, but I mostly don't want stuff for GTA V.
Don't want any rockstar social club (or the like) BS.
Don't want any GFWL garbage.
Don't want a half-assed pc port.
Don't want idiotic DRM (install limits, always online, etc)

Preferably they'd make PC the lead platform, but honestly I'd be pleasantly surprised to even get the above.

I don't care in the slightest about GTA5.

Saint's Row, bitches!

Seriously, they lost me with GTA4. If they want to get me back, they need to show why the balls-to-the-wall model of Saints Row isn't the better one.

The aforementioned "balls-to-the-wall" model that Saints Row has includes, but is not limited to, such things as fighting people inside of TRON world, driving around a truck that can vacuum tube people up off of the street and shoot them out of a cannon, a gunfight that takes place entirely in freefall from a plane, and beating luchadores to death with a giant dildo.

... I'm not sure if GTA V can step to that...

Exactly. They can't go back to that style of gameplay; Saints Row owns it now. They need to do something serious and powerful, but do it a LOT better than GTA4 did.

Or, Saints Row 3 has to come out and suck, making GTA look like the better franchise again.

I don't see either happening. GTA is dead, long live the Saints Row.

Proclaiming GTA dead is a bit premature. Somehow Rockstar seem to defy all our expectations and hopes and does an interesting idea and interesting gameplay choices. Saints Row is all about craziness and I love that but Rockstar make the world more interesting in GTA.

GTA 5 is going to be interesting because they will give us something a bit different. Also they seem to nail that satirical edge that Saints Row struggles with.

I'll probably buy it - because I buy just about every big a-list title that's not a war game or sports game - but I'm not too excited about it. I've never played a full GTA game, nor have I beaten Red Dead Redemption or LA Noir. I like the worlds Rockstar creates - but the games for some reason can't keep me engaged.
