ok so there is a radio station called classic fm in the UK and they are compiling a hall of fame of 300 songs as the best ever. a campaign is under way to get some video game music in there, in particular the work of Nobuo Uematsu.
the focus is on getting Aeriths theme into this hall of fame. for more details look here

Re: Get Video Games Music into the Classic FM Hall of Fame
Oh yes I'm definitely voting for this. I'm fed up of video game music not getting onto Classic FM even though there's stuff like the Video Games Live concerts and a Greatest Video Game Music CD performed by the LONDON PHILHARMONIC BUSSING ORCHESTRA! What? Is it not good enough for Classic FM or something?
Update: I put in Aerith's Theme, along with Legend of Zelda and Mass Effect (not as iconic as the other two but I wanted to mention a Jack Wall piece - he's almost like the John Williams or Hans Zimmer of the VG world )

Voted OWA and Aerith's Theme, along with Christopher Tin's magnificent Baba Yetu (which has already won a Grammy, so is already one step ahead of most!). This is definitely something I can get behind and should definitely be better recognised by the general musical world.
Next step is definitely a BBC Prom dedicated to video games.
