Steam Sales Awareness Thread!

Originally for an 80% off Plants vs Zombies awareness, Jamfalcon had the genius idea to make this thread for ALL such great deals, so we'll never miss that £1 Deus Ex again!

Any deals you feel are too good to miss, post them here!

P.S: FUCK OFF ADBOTS! MY thread! Go piss on your own! I always like to nip that in the bud.

I can vouch that the game is very good, especially if you are my mother. I'm more of a Peggle person myself, but it's still a lot of fun.

Just a thought, perhaps we should turn this into a "Game Sales Thread" or something of that nature once PvZ is done to have a place to discuss current sales on Steam (or other sources).

I edited the title temporarily. I'll remove the PVZ section on Monday and we can make aware the big sales here. Good idea, Jammy!

Today's daily deal is Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines for $5. I first played it last last year, and was surprised at how well it had aged for a game from 2004. I would give it a hearty recommendation, as it is one of my favourite RPGs of all time. It has some issues with the balance, but it more than makes up for it with excellent writing.

Saints Row 3 for 50% off is a good deal, but sadly the DLC isn't discounted.

SR2 for £2.50 is a steal, definitely get it if you don't own it already.

It's the Sims 3 this week. $10.19 for the base game and similar for most of the EPs and Stuff Packs. That's actually a really good deal...as long as you have the base game on Steam (which I don't).

Clearly EA haven't heard of currency conversion because it's £10.19 in the UK.

might be time to fire up a proxy server...

You would always have to play it through a proxy aswell. Otherwise steam could very well throw a hissy fit and refuse to run the game. (And yes, steam pricing in different currencies/countries is stupid.

I bought and downloaded SR2, but somehow my PC refuses to run it properly. (I get about 3 fps when driving. When looking straight down at the car, ie nothing else in view it runs fine. And that is with the lowest possible graphics settings)

Dutch Guy, I'm not sure what OS you're on, but I know it has a ton of issues with Windows Vista & 7. I was having some pretty bad lag and a lot of crashes on mine, and I read that playing in a window rather than full screen helps the stability a lot. I switched over and it stopped crashing nearly as much. My lag was never that bad for a prolonged period though, so no guarantees it will help.

It's worth doing a bit of research if that doesn't work, because from what I've gathered a lot of people have had problems with the game's stability, and so I wouldn't be surprised if someone has found/made a fix.

It's not so much that it crashes, (it doesn't) but it just runs at powerpoint slideshow speeds.

So right now the King Arthur series is on sale on steam. The concept of the game seems interesting and I am considering buying the first one. Anyone here got one of the games and are they any good?

So yeah, Saints Row 2 issues? I dunno, but I downloaded SR3 back when I first got this comp, they have issues with ATI stuff. Like, you don't get a framerate, my Ipod could have a better FPS than the one I got while trying to play that.

This is not actually a sale, or on steam, but worth being aware of regardless;

GOG.com is giving out free copies of the original Fallout today and tomorrow. It comes with free goodies and has better compatibility with modern windows than the versions on Steam.

Also, it is FALLOUT.

Yeah, no excuse on this one. Except that GOG seems to be groaning under the strain a little.

***EDIT***

If you're planning on registering an account with GOG for the first time to take advantage of the free game try using this link to get 6 more free games (link is from December and potentially UK only but might be worth a shot):

Um, yeah - you DO know Treasure Adventure Game is *also* free for this same 48hr window as Fallout? The other six (Ultima IV, Tryian 2000, etc.) are free indefinitely to everyone AFAIK.

Okay, after checking the site itself to see if anything else has been released/gone on sale/gone free/etc. I found THIS:

...which basically proves me wrong, but I've checked, there ARE only *eight* games under the 'free' criterion, including Fallout and T.A.G.... :|

Yeah, I included Fallout too in the 8. Which makes no sense.

I'm confused.

There are seven perma-free games.

Fallout is currently free.

Other games have been free (most notably Empire Earth Gold edition, because I have it).
