More ramblings about where I'm up to: Wow, they're really not pulling any punches! First Mordin, now Thane? And I never saw Udina's betrayal coming at all!

I can't help feeling that should have gone into a spoiler tag. Reason: "is" means you're not telling anyone something they don't already know. "was" spoils the fact that he dies in this game. And besides he said he had about 3 months left. Instead he gets cut down saving the salarian councillor. Wasn't expecting that.

I loved this game. I think it would have been better if the game ended when Shepard levitated upwards. Still would have been awful. Why couldn't Bioware have just done black and white endings. Destroy Reapers and hope chaos never consumes the universe or let them continue knowing that it's for the greater good. The actual choices were just very rubbish shades of grey. Not inspiring and PISSING OFFNESS. We didn't need a twist. Particularly one which ignores everything before hand (choices and established facts)

Nah so far I think it's fine as it is. Although I would have preferred it if

YOU JUST LOST THE GAME!

But then again that's just me.

So I just finished it and To be honest, I quite like the ending I chose. I went for controlling the reapers, allowing me to leave both the geth and EDI alive. Sure, the relays are gone, but at least all the species got to live.
I'm freaking scared I fell for the reaper indoctrination, but I'm hoping they never reveal this, thus leaving the naging doubt.
I might have gone for the "green" ending if I had known that combining synthetics and organics would just change everyone, leaving their personalities and memories in tact. I thought it would be some sort of wierd fusion thing.

Ok, now I'm going back to contemplate why I finished Mass Effect so quickly :P

EDIT: Ok, I just realized after listening to the Escapist podcast on the endings that I really want the rumors of indoctrination and free DLC to be true, otherwise the ending just lacks an enormous amount of closure.

I went for combination. It allowed EDI and Geth to live and let Joker be part cyber and EDI be part Human; brought them closer together. It also made all plant life cybernetic.

It felt safe.

I went for KILLING EVERYTHING, but the moment I did I remembered that that would include EDI. I was sad.

I've just done the mission on Rannoch. And I managed to unite the geth and quarians. And take down a Reaper. Woohoo!

I also went green. (I love that I can say that unspoilered, and yet anyone who's played it will understand.)

The endings SUCK though. Seriously, it makes no sense given the game's themes. I wanted to tell the Catalyst: "No. Fuck your cycle. You think we'll keep wiping ourselves out? We've made peace. We've won this. Let us live. Let us die on our own terms if that's how it is. Just leave us alone."

My personal theory is that the ending is a screw you to gamers for the torrent of abuse sent to Jennifer Hepler.

Not my fault that my nick name for her was "Wooden Boobs", because she had cleavage and was a deadpan personality. James' was "Manboobs". It's strange that her character got less and less personality as the game went on. I know TV reporters tend to not have personality either, but in a Bioware game, it's out of place. Hell, Harbringer was more human than her.

I was annoyed too at the choices. I made peace between the Geth and Quarians and made a AI (Edi) become 'human'. Why the fuck does God Boy think we'll doom ourselves with synthetics? I must admit, Javik (the Prothean) does refer to how synthetics are the ultimate form of life and will dominate over flesh. With everything considered, Green felt like the best option. Rewarded to see Joker and Edi embrace whilst looking at the new Universe. Very cute couple.

Hepler was the Bioware writer who reddit decided to hurl abuse at.

I did just ignore the reporter as soon as she was on board though.

I never let her on board. It's a military ship, not a reporter daycare.

If the indoctrination theory is true and they are holding off just to let this part sink in, because the feeling of being cheated and the debate around it is part of this story (indoctrination=uncertainty), then my god, Bioware will become a legend among developers

Spoilers:
went Green, enjoyed all of the ending, though I can easily see where the distaste comes from.

Now to finish the 5 or so achievements. Fun fact: got my 10th mail slot kill on a blind fire through smoke assaulting the Illusive Man's base.

Doesn't the fact thatyou destroy all the mass relays, that'd destroy all the systems with a mass relay in? Wasn't that the point of Arrival? By destroying the mass relay, Shepard destroyed the Bataarian planet.

I think the difference is in Arrival, they were blown up. In this, they're effectively "put out"

Oh dammit spolierI took green and I've been thinking about it and in light of the indictrination theory i turned the whole universe into husks...

But Husk Joker and Husk EVI can sex each other now. Isn't that great?

I think they still retain consciousness. What made husks unpleasant was the fact that they lost their identity. They were machines with organic part. I think this way you are 50% organic 50% machine. Technically still alive and conscious. Synthetic trees ftw

The fact that you need the most War Assets to unlock being able to destroy everything kind of hints that that's the "best" option, so I wouldn't be surprised if it did turn out to turn everyone to husks. And as for Joker and EDI... he'd have found a way regardless.

 The fact that they turned a whole chracter into what essentially is a sentient live doll is pretty creepy regardless.

Also at this point i wouldn't put it past them to have presumably non-canon enddings be halucinations. Which would be pure evil might i add.

Soon I'll be able to read all these spoilers... And I took the only Renegade interrupt I've taken in this game last night against Kai Leng, leading to an awesome moment when Shepard does SHEPARD PAWNCH on Leng's sword. And the we're-going-to-kick-Reaper-backside fleet scenes when you start the last mission were amazing
