Re: The Final Fantasy XIII-2 Funtime Playthrough
The chocobo racing Golden Sauc- I mean Serendipity one is the one I can see me having trouble with. Tips on boco racing would be appreciated... kupo.
Re: The Final Fantasy XIII-2 Funtime Playthrough
Well you need the silver chocobo and level it to 99. You'll win ANY race with that. Also use the one where he keeps his energy for the final burst and when the chocobo flashes, CHARGE!
The silver chocobo is found at: Academia. Throw the moogle at the orb where you find Hope and whoever that chick with the nice legs is. The big light orb over the pit where the bridge is in the headquarters. Mog will find him there.
Oh and spend your rewards on items to keep him happy. You'll want him max for the tougher races.

Re: The Final Fantasy XIII-2 Funtime Playthrough
Forty-Four hours, Eleven minutes and Five seconds
The End
Wow. I mean, wow. Compared to FFXIII, wow. It's like they saved all the awesome from FFXIII and put it in this one. I mean, the last boss from XIII? A 2-D looking thing that barely moved and a smiley face that giggled. This one? A mother-fucking dragon, followed by a fight with Caius, followed by three mother-fucking dragons.
This is definately the best game in the Final Fantasy series since X, possibly even IX. The combat is a little dull, but there's plenty of stuff there, a lot of which was missing from XIII; non-linear areas, sidequests, a shop that's not just a screen, characterisation. It doesn't have my favourite bit from XIII, Snow's lovingly rendered nipple, but it has more than the last game.
It also has something XIII definately lacks; Replay value. I want to go through it again, there's things I missed, stuff I just didn't do because I was playing the story missions.
The biggest downsides are the combat, Mog, repition of areas, Mog, not enough variety in weapons (I think I used the same weapong I got from the second hour or so for the entirity of the game) and Mog. Combat I've spoken of before, but Mog. Fucking Mog. Annoying voice? Check. Uses annoying voice often? Check. Unable to shut up? CHECK. And, kupo, the overuse, kupo, of "kupo", kupo. Fucking Mog.
I know with a time travel game, you're going to see the areas change, and I particularly liked Bresha changing, but I felt more could be done. Oerba, for example, barely changed from time-period to time period. Except for sand.
All in all, I really enjoyed FFXIII-2 and would recommend it. A rarity in these playthroughs, with Epic Mickey being the only other one I've recommended, I think.

What about X-2?
Re: The Final Fantasy XIII-2 Funtime Playthrough
It compares to XIII.

Personally, I enjoyed X-2. Taken as it's supposed to, it's just a fun follow-up to the angsty X.

I didn't get very far in X-2 so my opinion is one of ignorance.

Should really pick those up,at some point, I also need to finish XII but my backlog is becoming unwieldy.
What did you make of the end to the story Drinnik? Planning to play any DLC?

I enjoyed the end story and the cliff hanger. I want the Ultros DLC.
In other news, they've announced FFXIII-3. Guess I'm never getting away from Pulse...

Re: The Final Fantasy XIII-2 Funtime Playthrough
The ending obviously set up a sequel but I'd have been just as happy if there wasn't one. It'd be an ending that'd be talked about for.... months. Then more Skyrim drama.

I mean in a good sense. And thankfully I have only played ME 1 and 2! But at least the bad reviews force the game to the bargain bin for me.

Bad reviews? Of Mass Effect 3? I think Graham and co nailed it when they said there was a 35+ hour game before the 10 minute ending. And that 35 hours is some of the best gaming ever.
But this isn't the Mass Effect 3 thread so I shall leave it there. Except to say I for one would like to see XIII-3 so that the ending of XIII-2 can be undone.

As long as the wait for XIII-3 is shorter than the one for Vs. XIII :S
