Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
If anyone's doing the card thing, I have an extra Distillery and an extra Crispin Whytehead that I'll trade. Alternately, I forgot I had The Witcher: Enhanced Edition (I'm pretty sure someone asked me about that, and I'm sorry I never got back to you) and I'd trade that for a whole bunch of cards.

Saw this on another forum:

Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
If anyone is already going to buy Borderlands 2 and wouldn't mind helping me out, I'd like to trade my Steam code for B2 for Hitman: Absolution and the Psycho Pack for B2. Saves a bit over the normal cost.
Similarly, if someone is already going to pick up Portal 2, I'm thinking of picking up Doom 3: BFG edition and would appreciate a straight trade.
Again, these are if people are already planning on picking these games up. If not, then oh well. *shrug*

I've got 2 extra "Tomb Raider" cards for the Steam Sale badge and an extra Distillery for Bastion.

Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
So, I just got Humble Bundle 9, and they're telling me not to give away the Steam keys to other people...is that a real policy, and are they saying I have to use all the codes for my personal account, or not use them at all? This is assuming I chose it for myself and not as a gift.
I was reading the terms and conditions, and there's some language about "disclosing the Service" but I'm not a lawyer and it's kind of a grey area.
Anyway, if it's not against the bundle's ToS, I already own FTL and Mark of the Ninja, so I'd be willing to trade those out, or gift them to an Australian.

Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
I doubt it's actually illegal by any means, but they really don't want people to do it. It's less 'we'll sue you if you do this' and more 'we'd really prefer you didn't do this.' It's more because they're already offering these games at a largely lowered price. So people then giving away the codes they don't use takes away from more potential sales. They might seem to make a lot, but the money is split a lot of different ways remember. Plus, The humble bundle is available in all countries at the same price as well if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah, decent point. I guess I'll just let it sit.
If they reveal a multiplayer game next I might change my tune, though.

Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
Well, I have Dear Esther already and I have the Humble Bundle key that'll just sit doing nothing, if I can't give it away. I didn't buy the bundle for that. I bought it for some of the other things. I'm giving the key away.
(Also, I think that the policy of not giving the keys to other people might also disincentivize people from buying the bundles, getting the keys, and then selling them later at a higher price.)

GMG is giving away copies of Civ V or Mafia II by voting in The Golden Joystick Awards. I believe these are Steam Keys.

The real travesty here is you have to choose. Both are fantastic games.
Though it should be noted that Mafia 2 is not a sandbox game. It has an open world, but there is no sandbox. There are no side-missions ore activities. It is a completely linear game set in an open world.
Also Civ5 is better with expansions but the base game is still really good.
and now; back to me.

I backed the kickstarter for The Dead Linger. I can get access to my second code if anyone else is interested in trading for it. I'd like to get about $10-15 in game value for it if possible.

Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
I was waiting for the bundle to end, but since it has, I have some WB games I don't plan on redeeming if anyone wants them.
I've already redeemed Scribblenauts, LOTR War in the North, and the Origins DLC, but PM if you want one of the other items.

...aaaaaaaand
...just as I was trying to finalize a trade with my wife that'd get her one card from the snowglobe badge, and complete it for me.
THANKS, GABE!

Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
Okay, everything seems to be working again (and we got our badges ).
Oh, and bare-bones Saint's Row IV is on a flash sale for $20 for the next 7.5 hours.
...and DXHR:DirCut is on said for $5...again
I guess VALVe needs to move a large number of units for some esoteric business agreement reason???

Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
Perhaps this belongs in the venting thread, but...SON OF A BITCH I JUST BOUGHT DEUS EX FOR TEN BUCKS YESTERDAY.
I KNOW how Steam sales work. Never buy anything that's not a Daily Deal or a Flash Sale, because that's where they really slash the prices. But did I bear that in mind yesterday? Nooooooo.

It's all over but the crying. And the taxes.

Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
That's what's vexing me - that doesn't even apply for Daily Deals anymore...because they might get put on a BETTER deal for a Flash Sale later.
(case in point, DXHR:DC)
"Go home, Steam, you're drunk!" - a surprisingly more and more apt interjection of my wife's.

Re: The Steam/digital distribution trading/give away thread.
Was DXHR:DC cheaper during a flash sale? I thought they went on sale for the same price during those periods.
