Thought I'd try Bastion again. Still can't really engage with it but that level with the trams and the singer was quite good.

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Started playing the Dragon Dogma expansion "Dark Arisen" today. You have to be at least level 50 to survive the new areas. Been a while since I last played so I thought I had to do some really boring level grinding to get to level 50.
Started the game and found I was level 61 with incredibly high level stuff.
YAY!

Poker Night 2 is pissing me off. I got one of my 'challenge goal' things as 'win a showdown with a high card.' That's not freaking easy. I've been playing for hours without being able to, keeping every hand with an ace or king. And then, I was just playing a game. I got dealt a 2 and a queen, and two 2s and a queen came up on the flop. Freaking Full House... and the computer resets because Microsoft is suddenly updating. :/

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
You know a game's hard when you're level 115 and you can still get easily killed by non-one hit KO attacks.
Assuming that the many one hit KO attacks don't get you first.
But, it shows the game's good if you don't mind it being stupidly hard some times.
Dragon's Dogma, you're defiantly one my favourite RPGs of all time.

Oh whoops...I mean, that's not a typo!
Uhhh, Dragon's Dogma is defiant in wanting to be my favourite game. That is definitely the case. : )
Actually, on Dragon's Dogma. I finished it for the first time on Monday. Since I had go to the last part when it came out, but I didn't realise you had to do something else to complete the game. I thought I had done something wrong since I heard talk of a new game plus, but I couldn't see how to do it.
The game never actually tells you what to do, I found out by accident. It's incredibly subtle what you have to do. But the ending is quite moving, so I enjoyed it. Although I did feel quite silly not realising the first time. I did actually wonder why the ending was so open ended when I didn't realise what you had to do.
So now I'm on a new game plus, and I'm so stupidly overpowered that I've had to give myself some handicaps to make it interesting.

Is there anyone here with Pokemon HeartGold or SoulSilver (or other Gen 4 games, I think) that is willing to help me evolve a couple of Pokemon? I'd really appreciate it.

I just picked up Kirby's Dream Collection. All the nostalgia. It's hitting me in the face. I think I got some on me.
EDIT: And the soundtrack is pretty great. The songs are really catchy and work well even outside the games. And this is all coming from someone who is kind of 'meh' on Kirby in general.

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Only if you save in game rooms. If you save in the novel sections it's fine.
As I found out after getting to about 1/3 of the way through it...
And apparently it happens on Vita as well.

Do people still play TF2? I'm finally going to have a computer capable of playing it (not a new computer, mind you; an old iMac). Is there any good way to learn to not-suck?

Dragon's Lair is now on Steam.
Perhaps the best FMV game of all time.

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
Just finished Far Cry 3. The ending was a bit... disappointing honestly, especially since it's one of those "SUDDENLY MORAL CHOICE!" endings. I looked up the other ending, and it was even worse. So... yea.
On the other hand though, really fun game. It really does make the player feel like a badass. Some of the scenes were a bit... odd. Especially how... (late-game spoilers) you seem to teleport to a disco dimension whenever you kill a big enemy. I was also disappointed by how Vaas exited the game. But he does seem like he could have survived. So... I dunno what they were doing.

Pretty much. It was incredibly unsubtle with the decision. For those who don't know what it is and want to know, the choice is (SPOILERSPOILERSPOILERBACON) if you want to kill your friends or save them. And the kill you friends option starts with you literally just slicing your girlfriend's throat open. So yea. It's just like... really? Really game? :/
But my problem with it is that you're given a 'choice,' but there are so many better options. Like I personally wanted to free my friends, but have them leave the island and stay behind. Then again, the fact that Vaas's sister kills you makes me feel a bit better about not staying. But the fact that she dies for you if you leave just seems... weird to me. I dunno.

Re: Gaming General Chat Thread
At least it's a choice with consequences and not a non-existent choice.
The Last Story did this where it gives you two options, but if you choose one of the options the game/character just goes "Yeah, I think I should choose the other choice instead" and doesn't allow you to pick that choice.
THEN WHY GIVE ME A CHOICE GAME?!?*
It's the equivalent of when you go to a restaurant and the waiter asks if you want Fish or Meat for them to then tell you they're out of fish.
*To be fair, I'm not sure if you pick a different choice earlier/take a different path then you're allowed to choose the other choice, but I highly doubt it.
