This kind of depends on what you like or need in a game. If you like to play alone a game like Mario Party might not be the best choice.

*Thinks*

Pokèmon: Silver Version

Probably biased as it was the first game I ever owned.

Hey Robbyy, would you do me a small favour and drop a post into the 'Introduce yourselves!' thread saying hi?

Just as a sort of confirmation you're not a bot. It's rather unusual for a new person to start a new thread immediately after joining a forum is all.

I'm not 100% sure what the op is saying, it feels like it's missing a few bits of text. Pretty consistent with a bot.

Well, I'm biased toward Dark Castle for the Atari 2600.

(For the record, I hate GIMP compared to PS, as I have no idea where half the buttons are, I really wanted to outline the text)

But if we're turning this into a proper thread. FFIX has a special place in my heart, but I'd have to say Xenoblade Chronicles (best RPG (possibly game) on Wii, hands down) or The Sims.

Xenoblade for it's ambition, despite being handicapped by the Wii's graphics, and fun game play.

The Sims as it's such a simply concept but endlessly replayable and still fun all these years later.

Yeah, most probable situation is

(although, if robbyy IS a real person, (s)he's probably gonna feel a LITTLE intimidated by our response if/when (s)he comes back to check... ;) )

As for the thread, I'd say there's a lot of dithering over this title's strength in this or that one's forte in that, but for me:

Pirates!

There's only one game I always come back to. StarFox 64, on the original console. The VC port has terrible controls, and I've never gotten an emulator to work quite as well. It's a fun game, I know every line and every map, and it's something I can play start-to-finish in about two hours.

Are you talking about Sid Meijer's Pirates!? Because if you are, you just made me very happy. I loved that game way back when.

Also, despite this likely being a bot thread, I will say one of my favorite games. I won't say this is my 'favorite' since it's a bit unreasonable to come up with one favorite game with so many genres and types. But I personally loved Advent Rising. It was the Mass Effect before Mass Effect. The game had interesting ideas, a good story, solid gameplay, and was overall wonderful... but it was buggy as hell. It's easily the buggiest game I've ever played. But I just loved it so much. And it ended on a cliff-hanger for a sequel we'll never get. :(

Well, for 'buggiest that I want to play', that title goes to TES2: Daggerfall; but thanks for the warning - I've had that one on my GOG-wishlist for a while. :)

"Buggiest Game"...the judges were set to pick Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing, but word came in that it was going to be disqualified as, despite it being commercially released and sold, it was not actually FINISHED. (a game SO BAD, it won 'worst game of the year' awards for two years running in some cases!)

And as for my vote...um, I'm still not sure which game you're referring to, even with the name extension! ;) I'm talking about the ORIGINAL (the Firaxis remake is in many ways a better game, but...there's a tiny bit less depth; SMP didn't teach me about the socio-political history of the New World in the 15th and 16th centuries. ;) )

I'm also with the Pirates! crowd. Unbelievable game. So much to love. I will never tire of that game.

That said? My all time favourite game is The Pandora Directive in the Tex Murphy franchise. So much goofy humour. So much fun. Just wonderful.

Ohhhh, Tex Murphy. GREAT series.

That guy; y'know he wasn't just the FMV actor for Tex, he was also a co-founder of Access Software (the developer AND publisher)? And their first Tex Murphy game was the FIRST big, commercial game to adopt the VGA graphical standard? And did other revolutionary things like 'Real Sound' which gave you digitized sound even through your simple internal speaker?

...all reasons why I backed Jones with his Tex Murphy Kickstarter. :D

Majora's Mask
Final Fantasy IX
Banjo Tooie.

I'm really disappointed in you guys that Persona 4 hasn't had a mention yet! The perfect combination of social sim and dungeon crawler RPG, with brilliant gameplay, story and music. It is most certainly up there as one of the pinacles of gaming.
And considering how linear the story line is, it has a surprising amount of replay-ability, I think I'm on to probably my 4th play through (although that's counting both the original and Vita remakes, so perhaps would be fewer if you were only playing a single version).

Plus they turned it into a thoroughly enjoyable anime as well, which is definitely another tick for it in my book!
