I was telling the truth. I didn't get into more mainstream music really until 2009, when I started playing Rock Band and realized how much I enjoyed it. Before that I was one of those people that just listened to video game and movie soundtracks. As a result of all that, the last four years have been a series of rapidly changing and evolving musical preferences. It's been pretty fun getting into all this music I'd never even paid attention to for over a decade.
