MLP Mafia - Game Over - Ponyville Wins!

Postby Tapir12 » 07 Aug 2013, 21:55

Morning in Ponyville shimmers, morning in Ponyville shines. And I know for absolute certain, that everything is certainly...RED WITH BLOOD

Everything is not fine in Ponyville. For the last few days, weird things have been happening. At first it was small things, falling flowerpots and missing documents, but last night Mayor Mare was found brutally murdered at Town Hall. Everypony in Ponyville is terrified. One theory is that the villains Twilight and her friends defeated have returned and banded together. With Princess Celestia and the other Royals away, it's up to the Ponyville ponies to work together to out the villains before everything is destroyed.

Standard Mafia rules apply. No messages between players unless specified in your role. Days are unlimited unless things drag, in which case a time limit will be imposed. A list of MLP characters can be found at http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Characters.

(Also, I will be traveling for work from Aug 15th to 23rd so we may need to make a short pause in the game, we'll see how it goes).

The players:
- Jamfalcon
- Kapol - King Sombra - lynched Day 3
- Duckay - Twilight Sparkle (Doctor) - killed night 1
- elvor - Rainbow Dash (role blocker) - killed night 4
- JackSlack
- Preacher - Rarity (vanilla townie) - killed night 2
- Master Gunner - Fluttershy (Tracker) - killed night 3
- korvys
- iamafish - Derpy (vanilla townie) - lynched day 2
- AdmiralMemo - Discord - lynched day 4
- aeric90 - Queen Chrysalis - lynched day 5

Day 1 now begins...

Well everypony, it looks like we're in quite a pickle of a jam! I guess the only real magic in friendship is the magic of death.

(Just a warning, I know next to nothing about MLP beyond what I've picked up from cultural osmosis.)

There's no need to be so defeatist, Jamfalcon! We can bring down these villains just like we did before! We just need to work together!

As the morning breaks, the small dragon Spike wanders out, sees the murdered Mayor Mare, and promptly faints.

Well, things just took a dark turn, although the idea of painting all the houses in town red does have some appeal.

(Pretty much the same disclaimer as Jamfalcon, I know next to nothing about MLP)

JackSlack, out of "character" for a moment, are you straight-up role claiming?

(Yes, I'm roleclaiming as Spike. What that MEANS is up to you all to decide.)

A bold move JackSlack, let's see how that plays out.

(I'll be in-character once I figure out what that means here)

Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this mysterious quandary so it does not reoccur?

(Sorry for the wait. Been busy. Also, Preacher made me think he was going to say 'Look at the cards.' And while I know a bit about the series, it's been a while since I've interacted with it. I'm still gonna try though...)

I agree with Jam, this is indeed a pickle that we're in. But I also believe Duckay is right. We have to believe that we can figure out and punish those who'd do such an awful thing! And now I'm afraid red will be ruined for me forever after such an awful sight. :(

As of now, I do believe that Jack isn't one of the villains. Such a cute dragon that can't even stand the sight of blood would be an unlikely killer. But I'm unsure where to go from there... does anyone have any ideas?

Just a reminder that you guys don't need to play in character (just in case anyone though they had to).

Indeed, Kapol. I suspect fish may know more, as he didn't seem very surprised at the gruesome turn of events. *turns to iamafish* That seems quite odd, doesn't it? Do you have any information to tell us?

It might be. I don't really think iamafish has done anything to implicate himself. But, although it seems early to implicate one another, it also bares the problem that the sun won't go down until we decide on an action. Taking no action is a reasonable choice... but I'm not sure if it's the best one. Our group is small, so losing any member who isn't a villain presents a risk...

Oh, I don't mean to necessarily "point fingers" at anypony. I was merely pointing out an oddity that I noticed. Something, perhaps, out of place... Attention to detail is important in a serious matter like this, is it not? It could easily turn out to be nothing of consequence, and iamafish probably has a perfectly valid reason for his apparent lack of surprise.
In any case, I will not take any action at this time other than questioning, trying to elucidate the truth.

The problem is that if we take no action, we face the same dilemma of no information tomorrow with, presumably, one less pony.

But if we take action today, while we may find our villain, we will more likely hit an innocent. As much as I hate it, I'm more in favour of a active hunt, rather than sitting back and waiting for the villans to strike agian

The idea behind a no-lynch first day is to get an idea of voting patterns if anypony votes, and see who seems to react in what way to whom. Given we're likely going to suffer a loss tonight, as sad as it is, it would narrow down the list of subjects and make it less likely we'll be sheading innocent pony blood ourselves (assuming the 'lynch' is killing them).

However, I'm not sure if that's a good strategy here to be honest. I'm just not sure who to look for to start. Anypony could be guilty, and nopony really stands out to me.
