Well, no one is dead, so no one is killing at night, so no threat, right? So no reason to lynch anyone. I'll be pretty suspicious of anyone who says otherwise without a good reason.

And they all lived happily ever after now that the nasty serial killer was dead?

Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
I accept your reasoning Korvys. I mean there is no good reason to lynch someone. Yet at the same time, I can't help but feel that is the completely wrong decision.
Do you guys mind. I'm trying to write an essay

I'm suspicious about the claim that there's been an alternate win condition activated, but I also can't for the life of me think why we would lynch someone right now when we also know that all threats to the town have been eliminated. What are we trying to achieve?

Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
Regardless of win condition, I would certainly not be opposed to lynching the GM right now.

Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
Hmmm, this raises a good point. If there are no threats, we can theorise that there are no mafia? In which case it's very hard to pick out scummy behaviour to lynch someone. Perhaps this has moved into a cult/recruitment type deal to stop the game stalling at this point? Any of our masons/monks want to weigh in with additional info?

Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
If it's a recruitment setup, that adds interesting implications.
I'm pretty sure we can eliminate the possibility that one group has a recruitment-based win condition, because without any kind of night-kill, that's a foregone conclusion. (They convert one person every night, even if we kill one person every day, and that person is always someone from that group, that is a race that we cannot win.) The exception is if one person affiliated with the group has the recruitment power, in which case theoretically if that person is lynched during the day, that will end their recruitment and shift the balance of power back to the town. However, I don't know how we'd ever go about finding out that kind of information.
If both groups have a recruitment-based win condition, that would work differently, however it means that any unaffiliated townsfolk have no chance of winning (because what would their win condition be?). However, I think it's still a foregone conclusion: whichever group has bigger numbers to start with wins the race. I'm less certain on the math on that one, but I think that's right.
In conclusion, I'm not convinced that it can be a recruitment race.

Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
Yeah, I'm not sure if anyone has powers that can change things at this point. Even if there is an investigator, doctor, or whatever, without any remaining killers, they're functionally useless. But clearly there must be something that can be done to win.
So I'm all for holding off on a lynch/lyching iamafis, if you guys think it's a good idea.

Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
I highly doubt killing the GM is the new win condition; that's far too boring. And refusing to lynch will achieve no purpose whatsoever other than delaying any attempt to work out what's going on. And is also really boring.
We Masons received no further instructions at the end of play yesterday. I'm guessing that either the Monks got a new objective or that there's a third group consisting of three or four of the remaining players (elvor, Jamfalcon, Master Gunner, Duckay and Volafortis) and they got a new win condition.
I'd say the recruitment idea is too unbalanced to work, except that if one side won straight away it'd probably just activate another new win condition...

I can't speak for anyone else, but I haven't been told anything about new win conditions other than iamafish's post here.

Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
I don't think anyone got any new instructions. I believe they they were aware of their win condition from the beginning.
Assuming elimination is their goal, it would be impossible to have the deaths to only come from the day activities because we'd know who we'd lynch the people who request a lynch right away. So there are still powers out there. There may be at least a role blocker and/or a doctor who could have stopped something from happening.
Unfortunately we really don't have any other information to go on unless someone has investigative powers and can shine a light on anything.

And yet, Iamafish said that all threats to the town had been eliminated.
I have no idea what that means.

Well, if there is a doctor, there may be a threat that just got unlucky.

So if all threats have been eliminated, what if we are dealing with a lone survivor here. Someone who has to outlast all of us, but has no inherent night kill ability.

Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
Then we lynch no one, or iamafish, and get on with our lives?
Obviously something has to be going on. Otherwise we all just sit around not killing people. Just like real life. Mostly.
Whatever, night time means things happen, for good or ill.
Vote: No Lynch

I don't think that makes sense. Like I said, if there's no night kill ability then the game turns into a stalemate and there's no point in continuing. We'd all just say "no lynch" every day and nothing would happen at night. Then the first person who suggests we do otherwise during the day would be strung up and they'd lose.
There has to be something else.

It can't be that. A lone survivor with no special abilities wouldn't constitute a threat to the town, so our victory condition would still be fulfilled and we would have won.
...Twice.
Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
Yeah, there definitely has to be more going on here. Assuming that the masons and monks are telling the truth (which is obviously by no means guaranteed), I would be interested in the possibility of a third group... I'm not one of them, however.

Re: BASTARD mafia Day Three
Yeah, I'm in favour of trying to see what happens if we target iamafish. If nothing changes, maybe we'll get more information over night, and since there are no killers left (as far as we know), it's not much of a risk.
