Well this has got to be a first, a mafia game has turned against the GM

Vote: Imafish

although the paranoid part of me thinks this is somehow Korvys alternate win condition
Do you guys mind. I'm trying to write an essay

Game over

I literally said not to do that... why don't you trust me? *looks at the game* oh, right.

Well, no point stringing this out any longer than necessary.

GAME OVER, TOWN AND ELVOR WINS

yeah, there was no mafia, I was hoping it would take you longer to reach that conclusion. Obviously the concept of a secret society is lost on some of you...

On reflection, this was probably a better idea in theory than in practice, and I probably should have mentioned the alternate win condition at the start. I hope it was enjoyable if a little weird. I apologise if not.

That... is one of the stranger games I've played in. Iamafish, what was the alternative win condition? Lynching you?

Presumably elvor was a survivor.

And now that's out the way... PTANG, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING GETTING YOURSELF LYNCHED ON DAY 1?! GODDAMMIT... :P

Just so you guys know, Master Gunner, Duckay, Volafortis, and myself were also another secret group, and were also told we were Masons. We just decided to not reveal ourselves unless it was needed and pretend to all be on our own, in case it turned out that victory was lynching all the other groups.

In our group, Duckay was an investigator. Did the other groups have different powers?

Each group had one power each. Elvor was a survivor (whom I told that there were no mafia, but wasn't allowed to tell you).

The alternate win condition was going to be going 2 days without a lynch, but I decided that there was no point stringing it out any longer given that you pretty much all knew what was going on. As I said, it didn't really go as planned...

See, my immediate thought once I worked out there were no mafia was that it'd be 'one group outlives the second'. So I thought I'd reveal myself, since with THAT victory condition the night kill becomes very, very useful if he's loyal.

I hadn't quite worked out my endgame, though.

Yeah, I wasn't sure what was going on in this game. It was very strange.

From a neutral perspective, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Plenty of intrigue like a good game should have

You're going to have to give us a longer write up than that, iamafish. Who was who, what were they told, etc?

We weren't told our secret societies had to stay secret!

I think the concept was interesting, but maybe there was some element missing (though I'm not sure what it would be).

Meh, I decided on a high risk strategy that didn't pay off (plus there was a chance I was going to be without internet for a while that got resolved)

I enjoy throwing the occasional cat amongst pigeons to see how people cope, you did a remarkable job of trying to extricate em.

Funny, that. :)

Preacher and Ptangmatik were the other members of our group of Masons. (We were called the Assassins, because of Ptangmatik's ability, but we weren't going to tell you guys that because we knew you'd be convinced we were evil!) I would genuinely have wanted to save Ptang for the reasons I gave in the thread, but I was also really hoping we could hang on to our Vigilante for at least one night.

Of course, given the way the game turned out, that would have been a terrible idea unless we happened to pick Jack to kill. And even then, if that had happened so early on in the game we wouldn't have had a clue what was going on.

I just remembered that I haven't commented on this game. I was pretty confused, even though I knew that there weren't mafia!

elvor wrote:Now this is an interesting turn of events. One moment we're about to lynch Thrash, the next we have two claimed town aligned groups. Maybe some of them are lying, as Jack points out, it would be a dynamite mafia move. Also, the choice of Memo would be a good one if Aeric is lying, as that way there's less people to screw up and reveal something untoward. Friggin' complicated bastard game... I'd like to know if the monks have any special abilities, or if they're just another name for masons? Aeric, anything else we should know?

I tried to give a hint that wouldn't get me killed in this post (think acrostics) but you guys worked it out pretty quickly anyway after that.
