I'm in the process of planning a new gaming/media computer build but am also looking to put together a few smart devices in the home at around the same time.
At the moment, I'm thinking of using the machine as the main media and gaming center for the house, hooking up to a projector or OLED and ditching the need for a monitor altogether - any thoughts on this option would also be appreciated!
If I go down this route there are some automation options here, at least in terms of using smart power outlets and a motorized projector screen, both of which I've read can be operated remotely using a hub or voice controlled through something like Amazon Echo or Google Home.
I've been using a couple of sites to read into what's possible on the smart device (http://thewirecutter.com/leaderboard/smart-home/) and home automation front (http://forthesmarthome.com/home-automation-guide), but from what I can see, one seems to cover this particular topic in specific detail.
Does anyone have any previous knowledge or experience of anything like this (is it even possible?) and if so, what other kinds of integration could be achieved with things like smart lighting in the room that maybe interacts in some way with the system or uses something like an IFTTT applet to trigger when the system boots up?
Any advice, stories or warnings would be greatly received!
Cheers!
