Re: Name that Game!
Alrighty, here's one that might be a bit tricky.
Re: Name that Game!
Rage of Mages.
Or Allods: Sealed Mystery, if you prefer.
(I'm going off the HUD here. It looks like the first game's, though I don't know if you can change the HUD in either game.)

"Flat beer or a lumpy mattress. Take your pick."
"I'd prefer a flat mattress."
"Hmm.. Well, it could be done.. If I take the lumps out of the mattress, and put them in the beer, you'd have a flat mattress and a lumpy beer!"

Yeah, definitely Hydrophobia. (Not sure if Prophecy version or not though)
Edit: Seems I didn't check the final page of the thread before posting this. Don't know what the new one is.

The new one looks a bit like Well of Souls to me but I'm not entirely sure.

Re: Name that Game!
Chuckles has it right, it's the first Rage of Mages.
Re: Name that Game!
While I'm generally good at guessing the games, I never have a good game to post.
That Mirror's Edge one was funny, but let's be serious this time. Easy game. Should get it inside of a couple hours.
(Posting links to images because I'm using my monitor's full resolution for the game, and I don't want to break the forums or summat. If the links themselves break, say something and I'll try to fix them.)

This is a game I like to call "Small Asian Girl Casts 'Explode!'" It's the only spell I've found to be useful, besides the Spartan Kick in the third image. In the fourth image, however, we have my character cozying up to a campfire she made out of a broom and a gourd. wat.
It's also a prime example of Linear Warrior, Quadratic Wizard (Link redacted to ensure sanity). Warrior types in this game gain damage and HP as they level. The mage gains that, on top of the fact she's invulnerable to the first 10 or so hits from all enemies, including bosses. She then gains more powerful spells as she levels. Then her armor increases her INT, which increases the rate she trains her spells at, making them even more powerful. (Besides the point is that INT is her core stat, making her spells more powerful by default.)
Oh, and did I mention her invulnerability regenerates if you don't get hit for a while? Say, 30 seconds or so.

Bullet Witch?
Re: Name that Game!
No, no, and no.
I figured this would be a cake-walk. The game and devs were at PAX a year or two back. Their booth-babe had a funny hat and everything.
Told you I was bad at this.
If we have no correct guesses at about noon Eastern tomorrow, then I'll post up another hint and some more pictures. Perhaps a different character.

No wait, I know this now! It's Vindictus! I'd know that Fomor symbol anywhere!

Looks a bit like Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale.
Which reminds me, need to play that game...

Re: Name that Game!
Nope, I was actually considering using it.
I should stop using obscure-ish Japanese games since it's a little telling of what I'd enjoy.

Re: Name that Game!
Please don't stop - I personally enjoy the difficult, obscure ones! Also in the end, I often hear about interesting games that I might not have otherwise known about.
But yeah, no clue.

Re: Name that Game!
Ys: Origin is correct! Ys is the best series you'll have no idea how to pronounce. (hint: sounds a bit like "is" but extend the I sound).

Re: Name that Game!
Yay! I'd guessed that was the pronunciation. Is it worth getting that or Recettear?
Anyway: This one is deliberately misleading.

Up to you, really. Ys has far better combat and the like but Recettear is a must buy because of all the charm it just oozes. Luckily, Ys really doesn't need you to know much about the series to get who the characters are and the plot.
EDIT: Also, be aware that Ys really works better with a controller and that Very Easy difficulty is there for a reason. Most people could persevere and prevail over Normal, though.

Aha! You fell into my trap!
No, it's none of the Ace Attorney games. It's on PC.
