How about the Elder Scrolls series? Oblivion? You seem to be a cat person based on that portrait.

Nope.

A hint: the character in the second picture is the protagonist, and the game is third person. The first was just using an wall to get an angle that hid him.

hmmm... it looks about as grim and bad as I expect a Game of Thrones game to look.
Is it that Game of Thrones game from two years ago?
(Heh, "game of thrones game")

That's the one, Mara. You're up!

Regarding the portrait Korvys mentioned, that is a dog party member. These are all screenshots from within the first hour of the game, because I couldn't bring myself to get much farther than that (it came in a Humble Bundle).

Yay! let's see what I have lying around...

How's that?

Also, about the GoT game... is it actually any good? (Assuming you've played it.) I know it's not really tied that heavily into the show, but it could still be a good game on its own merits.

Game of Thrones: the Game of Thrones: the Game of Thrones: the Game of Thrones: the Game of Thrones: the Game of Throooooooooones

That looks like A Story About My Uncle but I don't remember any UI elements at the bottom.

I basically only did the tutorial so I can't speak with any great authourity, but it plays like a Dragon Age knockoff (more Origins than 2). The voice acting is really awful except for the couple actors from the show, who just make the bad ones even funnier. I've heard the story is actually pretty good if you can get past the mediocre to bad rest of the game, though, so if you're a fan of the setting it may be worth picking up when it's on a really good sale.

Pikmin 3? I have never played those games but the little creatures look like that maybe?

It's not Pikmin 3 or A Story About My Uncle.
It had both a console release and a PC release.

It's also not Child of Light!

The player character and silent protagonist is visible in the screenshot (the blue little imp with the yellow horns, though this is customizable).
Gameplay involves navigating a cave system and growing the bio-luminescent plants there.

No, but people should play that too :P

It is also set entirely underwater though.
Released in late 2010 on XBox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and Steam.

I've played a demo for this in the last couple of years...but that doesn't narrow things down much at all. :(

After some googling, it appears to be The UnderGarden.

I could swear I'd played the game, but I guess not, as I've never heard of it.

Yep! It's The UnderGarden.
Apparently people don't like it all that much (...in general, not just because people here didn't recognize it), but I don't really understand why.

Korvys, you're up.

Hey, I liked it enough to remember playing it and thinking it was absolutely beautiful three years ago...I'm just dyslexic and bad with names. :P

And "sidescrolling platformer where you clamber around gorgeous and colourful plants" doesn't really do much than just describe your screenshots!
