Re: Pokemon Gold and Silver: DS remakes
While the Growen up side of me says "Oh look another one of those pokemon games", The addicted O.C.D 10-year old on crack in me says "Must Catch them all".
I guess some people can grind like no tomarrow On WoW and still love it, I on the other hand have the most present impulse to "Catch them all". Not just with Pokemon either, The Viva Pinata series is also an additction of mine, but I don't know why.

About damn time.
I wish it wasn't on DS tho.
I didn't like how Diamond and Pearl played.
Make it like Fire Red and Leaf Green was!

We can always hope that they'll improve over both those iterations. I doubt it, but we can hope!! G/S was by far my favourite generation.
Pearl was okay but it was too hard to find a lot of types, making it really hard to work up a balanced team before the Elite Four.
You know, this might be just the right kind of community to get some fun battles going. Anyone interested?

Re: Pokemon Gold and Silver: DS remakes
Ohhhhhh, yes. Crystal was my first Pokemon game, and I have yet to play a Pokemon game as much as I played that one. I never beat it - didn't catch 'em all, or even beat the optional boss with all level 60-70 pokemon. But I got to that point, where all my pokemon were about 55 or so and I didn't want to grind anymore about 4 or 5 times.
I just hope that in the remake, they make it more clear, when you battle your rival, that those three question marks by his name mean that no one knows what it is yet, and not (as I thought for a very long time) that his birth name was "???".
Oh, and something that they added in FireRed/LeafGreen that they really should make standard - make there be an easy-to-access guide during battle that list all the type matchups. I've been playing with my pokemans for 6-7 years, and I still don't have everything memorized - "Wait, fire hurts ice, but it's hurt by water? Does ice hurt fire too? What about steel?"
But, yeah, I absolutely loved the day/night stuff, and was disappointed the GBA games didn't have it. And, the same way that a lot of people have fond memories of first getting out into the massive Hyrule Fields in Ocarina of Time, I harbor the same nostalgic goodwill towards Goldenrod City, which somehow managed to seem like a huge and epic city, while taking up less space than many of the Kanto towns.
So, yeah, I'm psyched for this. Though I hope they re-release Crystal as well. Besides FireRed, I just cannot get into a Pokemon game unless it's the third one. I don't really know why, I just can't.

Quoted for truth. That is all I had as a kid, and I loved them.

Well, I'm thinking the best plan is if a few of us buy the new ones at release and play them concurrently. That way we can battle as we go, with roughly equivalent time to play.
Plus, with any luck, they'll support modern wifi security via the DSi.
Failing that, I'ma hit up Starbucks or something...

Re: Pokemon Gold and Silver: DS remakes
I liked gold and silver at the point when you got to go back to the old world from R/G/B and beat the old gym leaders. The rest I can't really say I was fond of.
Re: Pokemon Gold and Silver: DS remakes
Although, Gold and Silver did get me thinking....what's it like to be a trainer on a continent where every gym leader has level 50-ish pokemon? How do you get anywhere?
