TF2 SNIPER UPDATE!!!1

And thus Valve prove that they can release stuff quickly. Given that it has day 1 in the top right, it would suggest that the update will come very soon.

Looking at that page, it looks like the bow will replace the sniper rifle, will have no scope and a faster charge time, and presumably a bit of drop on the arrows, maybe knockback from the arrows? (although the rifle gets that anyway)

Any predictions as to what they'll reveal next? I'm stumped for ideas, and this one has taken me completely by surprised.

I always thought that the sniper would get a weapon similar to the cross bow from HL2, and it looks like I was right!

Wow, see now this pisses me off, that weapon looks good and somewhat useful, I play scout for the majority of the time and the unlocks were useless, sandman is fiddly and does piss poor damage considering the bat is already one of the lowest damage melee weapons, the bonk! is just annoying and doesn't really help if the enemy have more than one sentry and the Force a nature somewhat eliminates the point of being a scout, getting close to the enemy then running away

There's a cow in 2fort? :?

And I wouldn't say that the FaN is useless: when playing as a pyro it really, really annoys me to be running towards a scout only to be blasted away. It's damage dealing ability isn't as good as the normal scattergun, yes, but the knockback does have it's uses.

I've been waiting for this update since they first announced that the medic was going to get new weapons and achievements.

I was a bit worried about the sniper update, but it looks like they're moving back towards 'different way to play' style, which is awesome.

I'm hoping for either quicker rockets or a 'rocket shotgun' that shoots out more rockets per shot but each shot does less damage.

Nonono. A soldier is going to get a CANNON. That fires cannonballs. It's going to have only 1 shot available to prepare at once, and splash damage is decreased, but a direct hit will annihilate anything but an overhealed heavy.

New map: Pipeline. Basically, it seems like a race to push the cart in the manner of payload. Not entirely sure how it'll work, but it sounds fun :)

The server I host had so many arena map votes that the entire enemy team was afraid of me by the end of them. I got so sick of the arena but it was what the players wanted so I wasn't going to change it.

I can't wait for the sniper update! All those snipers and only the good ones left standing! I think the spy update will be a hilarious one. "That spy's a spy!"

Although I'm wondering, if the shield only protects against one stab, once it's gone do you move at full speed again? Does the shield recharge, or do you have to go to an ammo cabinet to refresh? Also, is it visible to other players? Will a spy be able to see the shield and thus whip out his revolver (which at stab range is lethal in 2-3 shots) instead of knifing? Or will spies just travel in pairs, one stabs the shield, the other the sniper?

The Razorback is a bit of a head scratcher for me. Isn't part of the spy's job being a hard counter to snipers? It seems a bit odd to give what seems to be a pretty hard counter against something that you're not supposed to easily be able to counter. I guess we'll have to see how it goes (Although I agree with Alja; we just don't know what the shields specifics are, so any OP/UP stuff is a bit premature. Just a worry.)
