Favourite game to play to completion. POSSIBLE SPOILERS
Okay so here's a good one, what is your favourite game that you played through to the end and just enjoyed the whole experience?
Personally my current favourite was Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, I reached a point in that game that I could not stop playing and when I finished it off and watched those credits roll it was with a huge sense of satisfaction. This is in complete contrast to Assasin's Creed that I finished and wanted to hit someone because IT DIDN'T EVEN END!!!!

Metal Gear solid 3.
There are a few games out there that I'll play through repeatedly, like FF7 (beaten twice, played through 3 times, working on a fourth), and Supermetroid (beaten almost yearly). But as far as my best experienc playing through a game beginning to end I have to go with MGS 3. Everything about that game is absolutely incredible, and the last hour is possibly the most intnse hour of gaming I've ever experienced. That game climaxes hard, and keeps it up right to the end.
A close second would be final fantasy 9, which was great all the way through, but ended beautifully - discounting the very last boss. Amazing final cutscene in that game though.

I really enjoyed Dreamfall: The Longest Journey as a storytelling experience. It ended at a good "end of a chapter" point.
Re: Favourite game to play to completion. POSSIBLE SPOILERS
Super Metroid for sure
Everytime I reinstalled star craft on my computer I would beat the whole campaign, that makes it about 8 times now over the years.
Any Civilization game pretty much.

I don't think you fully comprehend the meaning of the word favourite.
Though I concur that COD4 had an AMAZING ending.

Final Fantasy Tactics.
Re: Favourite game to play to completion. POSSIBLE SPOILERS
my brain can't really do single favourites, so i'm going to estimate which game i've finished the most times (and regularly). i believe it is terranigma.
Re: Favourite game to play to completion. POSSIBLE SPOILERS
FF Tactics, 9, 7.
For less fanboyism: Bioshock, Baten Kaitos, and Half-Life 2 off the top of my head. Those few games I can play indefinitely.

Odin Sphere. A brilliant plot from beginning to end, and characters that you can actually empathize with (this no doubt helped by the surprisingly talented voice actors they hired for the game). The end is tough to get to, but well worth the effort, and it has the cutest little twist at the end. I'll occasionally spend a day just re-watching everything that goes on (hooray for saved cutscenes!), and it's absolutely brilliant every time.

i can play the Total War games ad infinitum simply because they don't really end per se.

I didn't pick that one specifically for that reason but they are bloody brilliant and I've missed a nights sleep because of it on a few occasions.

You beat that? More than once? I can never ever finish that game.

Re: Favourite game to play to completion. POSSIBLE SPOILERS
I tend not to play games/listen to albums/read books/watch films quite as often if I love them that much, after the initial rush of enthusiasm. I know I'll want to keep on appreciating them for the rest of my life, so I try not to overdo it in a short space of time. Which can be a problem: I often end up wanting to do something but putting it off again and again, waiting for some theoretical ideal moment.
Anyway, my point is that I haven't played any game to completion that many times. That said, Flashback and Chrono Trigger are always there for me. When I was younger I played the hell out of Super Tank and Pro Powerboat on my Amstrad, but only because I knew the cheat codes.

Soul Blazer and Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross are my top ranked ones. Soul Blazer because it had a good story and the way the game worked was fun and fresh. CT and CC because both have stories that few RPG's have been able to match in grandness since they were created.

Since I'm terrible at picking out just one I'm picking a few.
Legend of Zelda Four Swords is a game I've played through on several occasions, and every time I play any Kirby game I feel completed. Those games are endless enjoyment to me for no real reason, I just love em'!
Edit: Wasn't really a few, well I lied I guess.

Shining Force. I've played that game countless times now.
But Half-Life 2 and Ocarina of Time are defiantly up there.

Tough question, but I'd probably say...

I have to second Shadow of the Colossus. The atmosphere of that game was amazing and I had to keep going just to see what crazy colossus design would come up next. Plus, toppling those gigantic things had an extremely satisfying feeling.
The entire ending sequence of that game was epic, but I can't beat the last bosses. The first one is just incredibly hard, because you have to beat it with a certain character to get the "good" ending and I didn't play that character "right," and as a result, he kind of sucks. I went back, leveled him up more, and kept trying, but I finally stopped when I died when the boss had so little health you couldn't see the bar. Frustrating. It would rank up there if the ending weren't so freaking difficult.what? wrote:Odin Sphere.
