I will back up all the positivity towards this video. It was a well done, funny and interesting video. Good job to one and all, people.

It also does give me more of an interest in Magic, as I know absolutely nothing about it. Would anyone recomend the 'Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers' video game version that's on Steam?

I've played the Xbox version and it's not bad. It does exactly what it says on the box, really. Online magic.

I just had a moment of Fridge Logic.

If everyone playing had their own iPhone (which seemed to me to be the case) why would you have two life counters on the same screen?

(Yes, I know the obvious answer, but still. :) )

Clearly the app developer intended it with the idea that one person with an iPhone would keep score for both sides.

The next question however is whether or not the same app can support just 1 total and more than 2?

Meaning, can the same app support two iPhones keeping track as well as larger game sessions between a group of people.

Best Hustle ever, I'd like to see more of Alex as "the magic guy".

Or perhaps a simpler reason: so if one wished one could easily glance at their own phone to check their opponent's health instead of having to ask them.

Perhaps, although that just introduces more book-keeping.

(The obvious reason I alluded to before is, of course, so they can get across the game's momentum in a single shot. The app in question supports up to 4 health counters on a single iPhone, but I think that's for games where only one person has an iPhone handy.)

I've always played with everybody keeping track of everyone else's scores, so it's habitual to me.

Much like the other two before me, I don't play Magic...

But damn it if this video didn't make me want to. Fantastic video and glad to see that Alex is now an 'official' crew member, even though he's been doing a shit ton of stuff lately.

I'll probably watch this another time or two before the week is over.

Re the app:
when we play, we virtually always play with one person keeping score for both, and just place the phone in view.

the app supports 1-4 life counts simultaneously.

I really enjoyed this video! Alex's "wizardry" was fantastic and I liked the flow of this episode.

Also if I'm not mistaken some of the crew is wearing my button during the PAX flashback. I don't have the HQ option on the Escapist to be sure of that sadly.

Like I said in the other forum, card games aren't my thing. I never could get into magic, but I moved alot and so my circle of nerdy friends changed too frequently to ever get into anything like D&D or Magic.

Still, this has to be my favorite of the new season of Hustle (if indeed this is the new season.) Everything about this episode, from the camera work, the jokes, the injokes...they were all awesome. Not to mention, the inclusion of Bill and Morgan in the title means we might see them in a future hustle, which is always a good thing!

Getting Trapped and this new video in such close proximity is so freaking awesome! Loved this episode. Matt continually drawing Plain nearly had me falling out of my chair.

I just want to say this deterred me from playing Magic even further. I'm obsessive enough already.

Very good CH send off for Tim. Good show. Likewise, exelent camera work and general magic trickery.

Kitties for the win!

I forgot to say earlier, but the shots of "Tim realising his idols aren't that good" is hilarious, especially with the recent podcast discussion of "cHUSTLE us are dicks".

I have never played Magic in my life, and know as close to nothing about it as possible, but I still found this video hilarious. Well played, guys.

I see that the MacLaurin building at UVic is doing duty as PAX.

Cool that you shoot at Yellowjacket where I assume you have spent allot of money on Magic recently.

I'm such a tool.

I've been waiting for this thread to pop up under the LRR Video section so I could comment, but of course it's Hustle, isn't it? Doofus.

Anyhow. I love you guys. Hustle always reminds me of the time last year when me, my girlfriend and our old colleague would spend our lunchbreaks trawling through your back catalogue. Happy days. Thanks for bringing out another brilliant installment.

The subgroup of my wider friendship circle that LARP and Warhammer have recently returned to Magic, albeit with grown-up salaries and less restraint, and dammit, the urge to join them is sooo strong...
