I just realized... you only did the following joke twice:

Let's volunteer (person) to (do a stereotype). <sigh>.

Once with Bill (tall) and once with Graham (editing).

Shouldn't you have done it three times?

No? It's not a running gag, it's a callback. Thus why Bill told Graham to "feel [his] pain!" when he did it the second time.

Not all comedy has to come threes. Callbacks, for example, don't.

Also, the real trick is to change the joke on the third go.

The rule of comedic lists is to have continuity for all but the last item. Look at the Warriors of Darkness, you have three names that are dark magic, death metal kinds of names, then you have "Derek".

Personally I was glad to see <sigh> make any kind of comeback, I remembered it instantly from the Small Time videos.

I Really hope that Morgan comes back in time for the final episode of the season. I cant wait for it. From the looks of this episode its gunna be Epic.

So, for the previous episode, I enjoyed all the bits, but for some reason I didn't like the cohesive whole that much. For this episode, I really enjoyed it, yet there wasn't any particular part that grabbed me or made me laugh a lot, not as much as even some parts in episode 9. Yet I enjoyed this one better.

It's a very good episode, don't get me wrong, I'm just not entirely sure what I really liked about it. Well, I know I liked Graham dancing. And the game store guy whose name I'm too lazy to look up did an even better job this time.

So, um, for the DnD scene... Why did Jer feel the need to change his shirt? Lol! His DnD group all knows about Lrr, seems a bit pointless. And then why did he bother changing back to the green one while Kathleen was on the phone? xD

Continuity, yaaay! But sort of impractical to change shirts so much. lol

Its often a problem when you're shooting on different days, and people may pick up the wrong shirt by mistake or forgot what they wore last time, but time constraints mean you can't go back and change. This happened to me a few times in my media-pro class, but seeing as I always wear blue jeans and the same jacket, I was able to get around that. Although running back and forth for other things to make sure continuity worked once meant running several laps around a friend's house barefoot in a foot of snow in the middle of winter (it was barefoot or high-heels, with my regular shoes inaccessible until after we finished shooting (long story)).

My friend (the one who turned me on to LRR akshully) and I came up with this theory of calling back which does not apply here, but is generally applicable to callbacks (for stand up comedians and live comedy performances):

A cheap way to make people laugh when a joke fails.

Only, in this case the first joke didn't fail... or phail... and it's not live.

There's no set time, although usually its early afternoon PST though. Today they did it after the BC cH marathon was done, so they could do it live there.

I just figured out how to get my HVSC library to work, and I was wondering if anyone knew what song was playing when Graham was dancing for the bathroom key.

I dunno, I think well done call-backs (even in a standup routine) can be super funny. Even outside of a continuity like HUSTLE, they can be good, Phailhaus being a good example of how that works.

I've seen stand-up that used call-backs to good effect. Particularly improvised stand-up: if a comedian is making a joke out of a somewhat arbitrary collection of concepts, and suddenly realises they can work in an earlier unrelated joke, it can be really quite impressive. But of course if a stand-up is failing to entertain, then call-backs are going to seem really lame.
