Re: Unskippable - The Last Remnant
I'm all for Cutscenes and gameplay rolling seamlessly into one, but normally i expect that to mean having cutscenes involve gameplay of some sort, not gameplay being glorified cutscenes...
nice done though, the cut scene was so poor though that it felt more like taking a shotgun to a goldfish bowl, but hey, it's the holiday season, you deserve a break

I hereby dub this slightly interactive cutscene methid if gameplay design "The Cut-Play". God bless her, and all who attempt to stay sane playing her.

That may have been the easiest cutscene to make fun of to date...with the obvious exception of the MGS4 scenes.

This is entirely the Metal Gear fanboy in me talking, but really? You found the MGS4 cutscenes the most ripe for mockery out of everything in their list? Really??
Wow. You have some weird tolerances.
In other news, that was the worst combat system I've ever seen in my scant life.

Ok... I no longer wish to play through cut scenes. And why was emo boy wearing a badly quilted tunic with jeans?

I'm entirely ready to agree with you in terms of the combat system Nevrmore. It's like they tried to rip off the combat systems of Final Fantasy games and LOTR the Third Age but forgot the interactiveness and quality somewhere along the way.

I think this has fully sold me on the idea that there has to be limits to party sizes in JRPGS.
If this is what happens when you put 25 man combat in a game than I really dont need to see that again.
Come on there were so many weird animal half breeds to contain, they needed a gae blog to contain them.

I actually have this game, and that is pretty much how it goes. But later on (4-6 hours later) you get to go around on your own with only 2 support units. It's a nice looking game but I have no idea what is going on.

OH MY GOD MOST BORING GAME EVER. At least Eternal Sonata was pretty. This game looks like mud-colored mud. D:
Also, from now on, whenever I need to escape from an uncomfortable situation, I'm going to use "I just remembered I'm in a fun run!"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%A1e_Bulg
That wiki is ripe with too many easy jokes...
"The Gáe Bulg ... meaning "belly spear", "swelling spear"..."
" It was given to him by his martial arts teacher, the warrior woman Scathach"
"It was made from the bone of a sea monster"
Out of context those can be taken in quite the sick manner.
Re: Unskippable - The Last Remnant
Later on the fighting adds QTE's, though they're not mandatory. They do make things a bit lot easier, though: get an offensive one right, the rest of your squad gets a speed boost, meaning you can jump them all ahead of the enemy, allowing you to knock them out without taking a return hit.
It's also got the funniest status text for fighting an enemy too powerful for you that I've seen anywhere: the standard 'Attack' changing to 'Don't be afraid to die!'.

Re: Unskippable - The Last Remnant
I noticed Graham use "that's insidious," I would not have felt an urge to point this out had it not been used in a Commodore Hustle episode, thus leading to the question: Does Graham or another crew member use the aforementioned phrase often enough for it two appear in multiple independent places, or was the use intentional and a reference?

Re: Unskippable - The Last Remnant
I enjoyed this unskippable. By the by, including "gameplay" footage? What a twist!
Gotta say this has been my favourite one for a while guys. They're all humorous but I think this one's gonna stick out in my head.
Was that really the first battle of the game? Like, the one where you first learn what its all about? I saw very little in the way of actual explanation of what in the hell was actually going on.

You'd think someone would have stood up during the development of this game and said, "Ummm... doesn't that thing kind of look like a penis?"

It's a well-known fact that it's impossible for an adjective to be used to describe something on two separate occasions without it being a reference.
("Impossible" in this sentence was of course a reference to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which also made use of the word.)
