Episode 25 - The Ultimate Scrolldown
http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/th ... scrolldown
Mojang and Bethesda are locked in a legal battle of mutual silliness. Featuring a guest appearance by Russ Pitts.*
*Which I danged well hope puts an end to the assumption that somehow we jumped ship from The Escapist to PATV.

The outro story hurts my soul. My dark soul, you might say.

I dunno, while I generally agree with Russ on a lot of things I'm afraid I'm going to have to go with Russ on this one. While Russ did do an excellent job there's only so much he could have hoped to do against a debater as formidable as Russ, although I'd still be tempted to award him some Checkpoints anyway.
Either that or it'll mean the assumptions will have to become more elaborate.

Why would there need to be an opposite to gray?

There was a Pokemon Yellow that lacked a counterpart (though it was just Red/Blue but you started with Pikachu).

Re: Episode 25 - The Ultimate Scrolldown
Basically what MG said. Pokemon has always had an interstitial Pokemon game that was basically a combination of the previous dual release.
Red and Blue had Yellow.
Gold and Silver had Crystal.
Ruby and Sapphire had Emerald.
Diamond and Pearl had Platinum.
Black and White get Gray.

Can't help feeling that Game Freak messed-up a bit with the naming process there.

Oh.
So Gray actually makes total sense?

Guest correspondent Russ Pitts, a man who possesses the unique trait among humans of being able to see all sides of a debate...
...unless Extra Credits is involved?
On a less nearly-troll note, I can't be the only one who totally wanted Sven to make a return here as the expert on Mojang.
Ian McKellen indeed. (I still try with no success to use that joke in casual conversation.)
Re: Episode 25 - The Ultimate Scrolldown
I don't think that's fair to Russ at all. In any event, he doesn't work there anymore.UberTaco wrote:...unless Extra Credits is involved?Guest correspondent Russ Pitts, a man who possesses the unique trait among humans of being able to see all sides of a debate...
Regardless, I put it to you that he completely did see both sides of that debate.

Re: Episode 25 - The Ultimate Scrolldown
I checked out the speedrun from the outro story because speedrun tactics are always interesting to see in action for me, even though I know jack-squat about Dark Souls.
I have to commend From on some excellent game design, in that a lot of touches they put in allow differing approaches to the game-even speedrunning. They allow equipment and inventory to be manipulated while the player is on the move and climbing ladders. And they included-unless I am misunderstanding what was going on due to not reading Japanese and my aforementioned lack of game knowledge-an item that gives the player running meter (stamina?) at the cost of health.
Which goes to show that just because a player can "cheat" the system and beat the game in less time than average, it casts a positive light on the game rather than a negative one.
It does still make everyone else who played the game in 100+ hours look like Scrub-Lords though. </troll>

Not when you spell Grey in correctly.
I agree with Russ. Russ is reading from a script, he doesn't know what he's talking about.
The most unique, nicest, and confusing individual you will get to know. Don't be stupid around me, that's my job.

Re: Episode 25 - The Ultimate Scrolldown
Apparently, gray was an accepted spelling in the UK until they axed it in the latter half of the 1900s. So, ha! Justified.

I don't get it.
Re: Episode 25 - The Ultimate Scrolldown
Grey. Sorry.
That, and necessary, are the two I constantly misspell. Which is so annoying, because I hate typos.

Re: Episode 25 - The Ultimate Scrolldown
[wiki]Grey is the British spelling, whereas gray is the American spelling, though the latter was also in common usage in the UK until the second half of the 20th century, and the former is considered acceptable by most American dictionaries and is commonly seen in usage.
As long as you don't spell it with a 3 (or 4, 5 is right out) I think you're probably safe.
