S2E16 - Almost No Odd Job
S2E16 - Almost No Odd Job
GoldenEye's famous multiplayer mode was developed on the sly and nearly didn't happen.

I played Goldeneye for pretty much the first time about a month ago. Even with the default controls, I don't understand how people could play it.

Back in my day, that was all we had, ya young whippersnapper! And we LIKED it! You kids today and your "widespread broadband" and your "dual analog control sticks" or your "WASD + mouse"...
Though we didn't get nearly as much play out of Perfect Dark. For however antiquated you think of Goldeneye's controls and framerate, PD tried stuffing alt-fire and a different weapon picker into the same control scheme, plus effects and level design enough to bring the poor N64 to its knees. Yes, if you've played the N64 Perfect Dark, Goldeneye seems silky smooth by comparison.

My statement was more stemmed from that fact that I remember using the N64 when I got it in like 1998. The C-Pad is terrible, in my opinion. Probably cuz I've never liked the N64 controller.

G...seriously. Now I'm beginning to think you're starting to troll me with the pronunciation thing.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Cleese
Hover your mouse over the IPA stuff - the tooltips tell you how to pronounce each...phoneme(?).
k as in Kind
l as in Lie
i: (aka 'long e') as in bEAd
and
z as in Zion
and you find that "Cleese" rhymes with "Cheese"
Fun fact: the surname used to be "Cheese", but his father, Reg, changed it to "Cleese" on joining the Army during The Great War.

So we heated up the whole country and you wouldn't even come to Gamescom?

Re: S2E16 - Almost No Odd Job
I'm pretty sure that John Cleese lives in California so finding him and punching him in the face for much anticipated verbal abuse isn't as far a stretch as you originally thought...
"It's nice to think that before "Adam and Eve", there was "Earl Grey""
Re: S2E16 - Almost No Odd Job
John Cleese lives in California. In Santa Barbara (2 hours north of LA)
Re: S2E16 - Almost No Odd Job
We actually talked about that, and figured that more people would be confused if we said "Go to California", so that at least was intentional.
"But, but John Cleese is from England!!"

I'm sure the guy that decided to put that tank on the second level (which of course was hailed as a genius move at the time) is seething that his outside the plan thinking was all but forgotten but those darn multiplayer guys are fucking heros.
He habitually wears an expression as if he had determined to drive his head through a brick wall, and was about to do it (Description of U.S. Grant)
