It was a Desert Bus craft-along item from 2009. I pretty much made the pattern up as I went along (basic hat pattern, three crocheted circles, and crocheted ...fangs? teeth?).

I feel like I should make more hats now...

I loved Paul's Venn diagram comment. I laughed because it was funny, and then laughed harder when I realized how true it was. Also, there can never be enough safety glasses. Science!

Yaxley: saw your comment on the Escapist thread - I've only made the one metroid hat. Maybe Ben left it there after the last Desert Bus, or it's just stored there for the summer?

Okay...

I kept wincing with this video.

Belgium does NOT have a Dutch and French part!
It has a Flemish and Wallonian part.

The Flemish part does speak a form of Dutch, and the Wallonian part speaks French.

The Flemish side is not affiliated with The Netherlands nor is the Wallonian side affiliated with France. They only speak the languages.

It's like saying that people in Quebec ARE French and the rest of Canada IS British.

The quebecois would like it to be so.

Also, "french and dutch" are easier to understand than explaining that.

Also, it is very common for people to refer to Canada as having French and English parts (or, depending on where the person was raised, Francophone and Anglophone parts). As I'm guessing is the case in Belgium, there are a lot of different ways of expressing the various subtle distinctions between parts of our population and geography, and expressing it in (one of) our ways doesn't really translate well with the appropriate distinctions.

Yeah, meaning no disrespect to Belgium and it's internal areas, that was merely a shorthand to make it easier for most people to understand our joke about your terrible pop music :D

Seriously though, sorry if you took offense.

No offence taken, I simply didn't want to be associated with those Belgians. The Netherlands does have quite a bit of success on the music market, I will list some bands that have started here, you may know some.

Focus
Golden Earring
Ayreon
Epica
Within Temptation
2 Unlimited
Peter Pan Speedrock
Total Touch

Not really all pop-music, and some are seriously crap in my opinion, but then again, I HATE 90s dance music.

We also have a great load of douchebag DJs, but frankly, I don't think that actually counts as music, since anyone can bang their head on a keyboard and create songs like that. It's not like they can play an instrument.

So apparently "This Hat", "thermal imaging glasses porn guy", and "jingle sung by two people who are present" are running gags now?

Awesome episode, I must say this is awesome.

Being someone who, thanks to their parents' insistence on DIY home renovation, is intimately familiar with the physical properties of wallpaper paste, Graham comparing it to Protein Blast was... unsettling. But still highly entertaining.

If it counts, there was a generic soda sold on the East Coast named "Squirt".

You and me both. They did so much wallpapering in my younger years.

I was mildly entertained by LOL fizzy fruit drink at first but to be honest I'm pretty sure it's a perfect example of a company trying a bit too hard to be topical and hip without success.

Also, I don't even know why, but Kathleen's shark thing absolutely slew me.

When you rolled out the Dump Truck and said it was something you picked up from the store, for a moment I was totally expecting Ak-Mak. It's bilingual, but this time for Belgium.
