The Poop Episode

Postby Graham » 10 Jul 2013, 13:50

Poop is everywhere -- in your heart, in your intestines, and even in the news. So much poop news, so little time.

"Non-Euclidean Fuck Machine" is Transitive Property of Vaginas' debut album. Our first two singles will be "Goat Shredder" and "Harness the Excrement".

Mr. Incapable of Donning Head Coverings, you have turned one of my favourite statements in a LRR video to new extremes, and I thank you for it!

To completely change the subject, I know the theme park that the Gold Striker rollercoaster is at (California's Great America in Santa Clara, CA). This place isn't like Disneyland where it's just surrounded by hotels. It's actually in the heart of Silicon Valley - there are high-rise office buildings all around the property, so I can see why they complained. (Then again, the San Francisco 49ers are about to build their new stadium right next door to the park, so let's see what those companies do then...)

Additionally, it's nice to see that the park has been able to create something that's not completely mediocre...

Sim Ants was terrible. I got the whole collection of Sim games when I was younger and the only one worth any time was Sim Copter.

Funny episode and enjoy the gif.

I loved Sim Ants. It was on the school computers in my elementary school, and it was such a treat to go play that. I seem to remember the spider would make a noise when it started eating your ants... terrifying.

I had the SNES SimAnt. I didn't think it was all that terrible, really, though it generally came down to "max out the colony size and swarm them all over the red ants, assuming the human isn't walking in that area of the yard". The spider was freaking terrifying, though, if it locked onto your ant.

Really, it was a bit more of an RTS than a Sim game. They did use pheromone trails, though (if an ant found food, it would leave a trail as it returned home that other ants had a high chance of following), plus a few other odds and ends about ants, but a Sim game it was not.

SimTower was, however, sort of crap. Though that was largely because the project lead didn't have time to complete it before Maxis brought down the hammer and told him to get it done (it wasn't really a Maxis game, per se, they were just publishing it). Yoot Tower, which came later, was what SimTower was "supposed" to be, and... well, it DID improve a few things and added more variety, but ultimately, not all that much better.

My boyfriend works on anaerobic digestion equipment. I sent him the news story about the Toronto Zoo a few days ago. he was quite please despite his (*ahem*) shit job.

Also, I spent HOURS playing Sim Ant as a kid... either leading my ants to their doom in the kitchen outlet or just constantly making them puke back an forth into each other's mouths... yes you can do that.

Wait, it's in Santa Clara? I've been to Great America (admittedly in middle school). How did I not realize it was in Santa Clara? ...How the hell do you fit a theme park in Santa Clara?

I keep forgetting that you and I are from the same corner of the world, Fayili. Great America's been around since the 70s, so it pre-dates all the high-rise office buildings. So really, if you're going to build right next to a theme park, you should know what you're getting into.

HOLY SHIT, SIM ANT.

I loved that game.

Did anyone else do the thing where you'd pick up rocks and put them over the red ants's nests to starve them out before storming them?

I personally enjoy the current festival of goat related news in the feed dumps over the last while for obvious reasons

I never had access to sim ant but I looked it up and... well, it's a game. Probably not one I'm going to be looking into seriously anytime soon, mean, it's not a sim city 2000 or anything.

Maybe it wasn't a full-on ant sim, but it was fun.

If you were playing the campaign, you could build nests in the house, and once you got enough of the house colonized, the human would leave and there'd be a "For Sale" sign in the yard.
