So... I really enjoyed the "Please write to:" bit, but I don't get it. This is a reference to some kind of Canadian television?

The please write to bits seem a bit Pythonesque to me.

Here's the reference: Hinterland Who's Who.

From Wikipedia:

Hinterland Who's Who is best known as a series of 60-second public service announcements profiling Canadian animals, produced by Environment Canada Wildlife Service and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) in the 1960s and 70s, and re-launched by the Canadian Wildlife Federation in the 2000s. While the word "hinterland" refers to an area near a coast line or river bank, the series explores wildlife throughout Canada in general, regardless of location.

Also? That noise that Dave Thomas did at the beginning of every Great White North sketch was a reference to the music from Hinterland Who's Who, so there's pretty deep precedent for making fun of it in Canadian sketch comedy.

I have now ruined the joke by explaining it.

I really liked this weeks dump. I am a bit worried about the amount of Beej masturbation that has popped up in recent weeks. It makes you worry about his chances with any un-married queens. They tend to demand attention themselves I hear....

Although Cam's insect fetish might be a bigger problem if that queen has a collection of butterflies.

Thank you so much. And as I suspected, they were based in Ottawa. :D

To be perfectly honest, Cam's political commentary in every story ruined this one for me.

So with the fake addresses and the request to write in, I LOVE LOVE LOVE putting old, near meaningless TV artifacts into Feed Dump. For example, whenever I need to put in a pause, I like to use a 1980s technical difficulties clip from New Zealand TV2.

I wanted to do requests to write in (because who does that anymore?!) like in some Monty Python sketches. However, in execution, I tried to make them ape the style of the very old Canadian government commercials, particularly Hinterland Who's Who, since it's SO recognizable for most Canadians.

I spend a lot of time on YouTube looking for really old TV clips. I find them really interesting because when I see those things it's like I almost remember them, but don't actually. They inhabit a strange space between a real memory and something that's just similar.

This is definitely in my top 5 favorite feed dumps. I haven't seen Cam savor blithering stupidity like that since Prayer Warriors, and the stinger was a fantastic work of timing and wordplay.

I do not remember seeing the original Hinterland Who's Who but I do remember hearing spoofs of the segments on Double Exposure (a CBC Radio comedy show.)

DAMMIT KATHLEEN, WHERE ARE YOUR POSTAL CODES?

I'm starting to think you're not taking this complaint process seriously.
