That was an excellent dump. Even with the fact that Serge and Ash are wrong cat-hating mosters of a different opinion than I. The spider beginning was amazing. And I lost it at Ash's retort of "that's fair."

What happened to the spider? I need to know.
Re: Feed Dump 208 - Friends Off
Almost seven years on, and David Thorne's seven-legged spider is still showing up all over the place.
Since I feel about spiders as Kathleen feels about cats, I also need to know this.

I love the last-ditch Evil Serge at the end.
Re: Feed Dump 208 - Friends Off
I love cats. I have always had a cat as a pet.
But Kathleen, this does NOT preclude me from acknowledging them as being little balls of evil.
True story: my current cat - Domokun - is highly territorial, particularly when neither my wife or I are at home. A few years back, we had a contractor - Sergio - at the house working on some basement remodeling. He arrived at 8am and we both went to work.
At around 10am I received a call from my wife that I needed to go home and let Sergio out of the upstairs bathroom. Domo had attacked him and chased him up the second floor bathroom. And since our interior doors are handles, not knobs, the cat can open them, and had in fact tried to enter the bathroom (presumably to murder the intruder).
When I got home, the cat was lying at the top of the stairs, very calm and casual, like "Hey, I got him."
Sergio in the meantime was thankfully uninjured and had a good sense of humor about the whole thing. The cat however was secured in a bedroom for the rest of the day.

Re: Feed Dump 208 - Friends Off
In an attempt to settle the dog vs. cat debate I offer this scientific analysis.
If aliens invade you want to be with a cat
(see Alien, Men In Black)
If terminator style robots invade then you want a dog
(see Terminator, T2? I don't remember but probably)
I'm sure there are other studies I have have missed that verify or disprove my claim but I'm too lazy to look them up

Lazy and willing to work very hard to stay that way.

See I like spiders. They largely mind their own business, and I mind mine.
I also like chameleons, bats, pitcher plants, frogs, lizards, anteaters, Venus flytraps, certain species of birds...

I like spiders in general, but brown recluses can right off, since I almost lost my legs to one, and they will never heal.

I like spiders, just as I like any animal that eats mosquitos.

I'm beginning to think that this topic should be renamed Spiders:Friend or Foe?
Re: Feed Dump 208 - Friends Off
You Canadians and your spiders. Just a heads up, if say, a large cardboard box from Australia just happens to be found on the doorstop to the Moonbase, don't be afraid to open it. It might only have the adorable Atrax robustus (Hugging spider) inside it.
Being a responsible adult just means starting fewer fires than when you did as a kid.

No animal from Australia wants to hug. They want to eat you. and that's on the way to the mailbox.

Nah, most Australian creatures just want to poison you.
Also I find it assuming that the largest city in Australia is located where the most venomous spider can only be found. Funnel webs are one of the many reasons why Melbourne is better than Sydney.

We are all made of star dust. However we are also made of nuclear waste.
