Re: GPLP: Dante's Inferno
Finally decided to marathon this series, but part 3 seems to be badly corrupted, virtually none of it is even a recognisable shape let alone something I can discern in context.

Re: GPLP: Dante's Inferno
Odd, I watched the whole thing within the past weak and didn't notice any corruption. And I just watched the first minute or so without any trouble.

Odd indeed, it works fine on my 5-year-old laptop, but my newer one had terrible corruption issues the first time I tried it today, now it's fine. Might have been a temporary issue with blip.

It really is a testament to the game level design that I have no idea what specific room you are referencing.

The room from the beginning of Pt. 8.

Man, I would love for them that have put Virgil in there as sort of classics scholar Navi:
"Hey, hey... listen! In the middle of the sea there lies a wasteland,
that is known as Crete, under whose king the world knew innocence.
There is a mountain there that was called Ida; then happy in its verdure and its streams,
now deserted like an old, discarded thing... Hey, Listen, hey!"

Now I have this image of Navi lamenting over Link ignoring it.

Re: GPLP: Dante's Inferno
The Lucasarts game that Brad was trying to remember in part 9 (the heaven/hell Simcity one) was called "Afterlife". I recognized it instantly when he mentioned it because I got it years ago and still have my copy today. It's always been one of my favorites because it's packed full of humor and has a fantastic musical score.
If anyone wants to check it out, it looks like it's abandonware now and can be downloaded for free from here: http://www.agamesroom.com/game/afterlife - You might need DOSBox or a similar program to run it on today's systems but it's well worth the effort.

Very happy to see another of these up, is it fair to assume about on a week? I would hate to constantly refresh the page in vain

@Part 9:
Ha, Homestar reference.
At least, I hope that's what that was.

Re: GPLP: Dante's Inferno
I wonder... When the beastmaster throws you off Ernest and then you climb back and thrust that scythe into his head once again, does it go into the same hole that was there from the first Ernest-capture, does it make another hole somewhere beside the last one or does Ernest have hell-high regeneration that simply removes any wound the moment the scythe gets pulled out? And if the last case is true, why don't the Ernests of hell simply take control of all the hell? Because everybody else seems to die quite easily.
There is no limit.

Re: GPLP: Dante's Inferno
@Paul; I read the Inferno in HS, and I think the way it works for the people in hell is that they see time backwards. For us in the world of the living, we perceive the present clearly, but we can't tell what will happen further out. People in hell know the future very well, but not the present. I think what that works out to is that people in hell know what's going to happen, they just don't know if it's happened yet.
@Big Phill; the reason that the Ernests don't take over hell is that they need someone on top of their head to survive. It's like sharks.

To anyone here with Netflix, I highly recommend this, if you haven't seen it:
http://movies.netflix.com/WiMovie/Dante ... kid=496624
Its a modern interpretation, with 20th century sinners, and has some pretty funny moments. And, James Cromwell as Virgil is fantastic.
Edit: Also, I keep wanting to yell out to you that you have to do melee attacks on the Hoarder/Wasters, so they won't go into their "Fuck you, I'm invincible-spinning-man!"

Re: GPLP: Dante's Inferno
Props to you guys for sticking with the game this far for our entertainment. I would have given up several unforeseeable death traps ago.
And now, Part 2 of TJA Nitpicks Graham, Paul & Brad's Historical Knowledge of Non-Medieval Times:
I don't think there's any evidence Boudicca was especially busty. Bodacious is a portmanteau of bold and audacious, and bodice... well, I confess I had to look that one up, and it turns out that the top part of a dress was called a body in ye olden times, from which bodies, from which bodice.
I'm sure Boudicca has often been drawn or painted as being generously enboobed, but that's just the way all warrior queens are drawn.

Re: GPLP: Dante's Inferno
Just recently finished playing the PSP version of this game. Is it sad that while watching all of this I was jealous? The PSP version has at least 1/2 of the content missing. No relics and less than half of the upgrade panel. Oh well. I am having twice as much fun watching you guys play it then when I actually played it so I can't wait for the next segment!

I'm imaging a montage at the end of Dante's Inferno of bunch of misfit, palette-swapped demons fixing all the damage you did to Hell. Patching all those chains you broke, putting Fortunes Wheel back in place, reattaching Charon's head (after which, big thumbs-up)...
