I do love how the choice leads to the exact same kind of mission for either faction.

"We want you to do the same thing you were doing before... but, uh, think evil thoughts when you're doing it or something."

I can see what people mean when they say that this isn't a very good game, but after watching it I'm going to think of it as X-Men Arcade 2011. Disregarding the platforming sections which are short and really easy so far, that's what it is.

Sadly it seems that this game has better written dialogue, so we won't "Go! Find Kitty in the Cave!" or hear "Magneto Master of Magnet" introduce himself.

Edit: Come to think of it you guys could do a short LP of the X-Men Arcade game seeing as it's on the Live Arcade and Playstation network.

Well Juggernaut got his powers from a demonic gemstone and you are somehow using his "mutant" powers.

And Nightcrawler's dad is a demon who was also a mutant, so it's complicated.

One of the many reasons why I don't care for the X-Men. They started off as just being mutations, and now they allow for wackado magic and crap. Earth X made it all so much simpler, in that anyone with powers really had an inert gene that allowed it to happen, as oppose to simply dying from radiation sickness.

And DC went down that road as well when they introduced the metagene so that people could have weird and wonderful powers. Which made Batman all the more awesome because he didn't have any powers at all. I can't really think of a Marvel equivalent. Maybe Iron Man but he had a suit to do all the work for him.

Sorry, but I forgot to mention that, within the logic of Earth X, every living creature has the inert gene to allow for crazy evolution. Whether it's activated "normally" via the X-gene, or by way of radioactive spider-bite or gamma bomb or vita rays, etc.

Though, it has been a while since I've read it, so I may be wrong. And I'm too lazy to sift through to the book to correct myself >_>

The Punisher mayhaps? Obviously Batman wouldn't approve all of his methods, but he doesn't usually have powers. He gets powers in a few comics though, the old demon gifts once again! Oh Marvel.

To be fair, Batman can be written to be so awesome, you would think he had superpowers.

He has! He has the superpower to make large gadgets disappear onto his utility belt. Seriously. I was watching the animated series episode "Heart of Ice". Bats gets captured and has his belt taken off. Later on he gets it back and in the climactic fight he pulls a giant flask of chicken soup out of nowhere!

Of course it does! If it was a good game G&P couldn't make fun of it like they do :D

Actually I wouldn't mind seeing a Lets Play of one of the Sonic games from Unskippable :D

We considered a Sonic game. It could happen. We're not sure we could take it.

Maybe take a step back a bit... Sonic Adventure was pretty fun.

Sonic seems like it might make for a good one (but then I haven't played a sonic game since the genesis.)

For games that space out the interesting (or at least mockable) bits with excessive amounts of mindless button-mashing mook-murdering are you guys above using cheat codes (if/when available)?
Obviously there's a point when a game is best sent to the trash, and doing it too early would just defeat the purpose of the LP, but it seems like it might have a time and a place.
ie:
<interesting bits>
kill 50 enemies! (sigh)
great, now kill 500 enemies! (NOPE.)
*cheat* (kill everything, or skip or something)
<hopefully more interesting bits>

Just a question in general, not necessarily related to this game (yet :P)

[edit]
(Also no point to it in games where you are close to the end, as in dante where there is/was no sense in sullying the rest of the play through.)

Wouldn't suddenly acquiring mass enemy-killing mutant powers count as a cheat code?

"I'm surrounded by 100 mooks with no way of beating them"

*unlock fancy new power that conveniently allows you to take on 100 enemies*

"Oh that's convenient!"

It may have been invented in videogames but Warner brothers holds the trademark for the name thanks to the Matrix movies.

Pretty sure The Matrix predated Max Payne...

[edit] Yep, by two years, according to Wikipedia. 2001 vs 1999.

I wasn't sure if there were any games before that which had the same concept as bullet time so I didn't want to definitely say it wasn't invented in video games. The Matrix gave it the name though.

Yeah, Cybren, Max Payne's slo-mo was pretty much entirely inspired by the Matrix.

It seems a bit weird siding with Magneto. I mean, I can understand the brotherhood's appeal, but so far Magneto himself has been nothing but a huge dick to you.
