GPLP: Cursed Crusade
Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
Also a good series is Terry Jone's Crusades - it's either that or QI where I heard about the Crusade where they just attacked the nearest city.
also, hi. I started with the Dante's Inferno, then after X-Men watched the old ones.

Gah, why do I let myself get interested in the stories of these games only to have them posted further and further apart as they go on? D=
Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
Sorry for the delay! We'll get back on this ASAP.

Wait, Brad works at the Roman Bath museum? I've been there! (unless there's another Roman museum in York). Also, I remember that whole bar/gate thing, went up in the Richard III museum in the Monk Bar.

I shall henceforth refer to that move as the Magnificent Satanic Brofist of Healing.
Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
I'm pretty sure your victory point did carry over - You got 4 new ones, one of which went to be assigned to stats, the other 3 went to weapon stuff, and you had 4 to assign to weapons.
It's too bad the pushing people into wells&stuff mechanic is so finicky, sucks all the fun out of them if you have to almost die to set them up.

So I had to report it on my listing that my house was on a farm that had a open well, even though the well wasn't on the part of the property that my house was on, and it had been filled in before the subdivision was built.
What I am saying is, make sure you let the people know that you tossed bodies into that well while you were sacking the castle or else you could get hit with a big municipal fine.

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
The weapon skill upgrade system in this game does seem like a fairly interesting idea... in theory.
In practice, I have to think it's more than a bit annoying. I mean, when you only have four or so points per upgrade session to spend across every permutation of weapon combos in the game, you have no way of knowing what the next level will have to offer in terms of weapons, and the weapons you're carrying will inevitably break and force you to switch to something else, it sounds like you can easily get into a situation where you just spent all your points on those cool double-mace skills, have one or both of your maces break right away, and find that you happened upon the grove of hostile fanatics with an affinity towards combat bagpipes.
I wonder if that mechanic was originally designed for an MMO context (one which would better suit the long-term skill upgrade system it seems to promise) and simplified later when they decided against trying for that market.

on topic of the next GPLP, maybe Bitch Witch? Though I guess that's a character action game as well.

I feel a lot better knowing that I'm not the only one that spends way too long trying to figure out REALLY obvious puzzles.

So, I know you guys talk about how embarrassed you are, but do you think the game should've done more to let you know what you were supposed to do?

I do.

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
Well, the only ingame clue was Denz quickly mentioning using the curse against the ballistas... and, I guess, the fact that this was just after the fire tutorial level? Though it wasn't exactly obvious that it was a tutorial level, as opposed to a gimmick level?
While no one overhear you quickly tell me not cow cow.

I was yelling at the computer telling you to use the demon mode fire thingy a little, but then, I know that I get stuck on things like that all the time, so I can't really complain too much

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
I also quickly thought to use the fire.
How hard would it have been to have Denz repeat the advice if you are still stuck a minute later?

Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but for some reason I can't watch the blip videos on loadingreadyrun.com (latest GPLP, TGWP being where I noticed it starting). When I try to watch, it just gives a black screen with the "loading" circle graphic, and then never loads. If I go to blip.tv/loadingreadyrun, I have no problem watching it there. I'm currently using IE9, if that makes a difference. Just thought y'all might like to know.
Re: GPLP: Cursed Crusade
To us, it wasn't really obvious that the fire thing was a tutorial level, also we clearly missed the part where he said to use the fire... oops.

When they were fighting Death, I really wanted to hear your partner tell you that you can't cross the streams...I mean, fire.
It would be bad.

The prevideo ad I got was for Disney world, It started with a 4 second shot of the castle and I hadn't put my headphones on yet.
I thought "WOW! they really went off the medieval crusade theme for this cut scene I wonder what Brad will say about, Buzz lightyear? Ohhhh..."
