TTC 76 - More DTK Previews & Tiny Leaders
Cameron, Alex, and Serge look at some of the latest spoilers for Dragons of Tarkir, and talk a format that's quickly becoming very popular: Tiny Leaders.

I actually want more Orc tribal, although they tend to be red/black more than just mono-red. Still, tribal decks are some of my favorites, and I feel they need more love.

Got there! Now all that's left from me in that pile is the Spanish Dark Ascension.

I really liked your discussion of Tiny Leaders. It's gotten to be a popular format at our local game store, and it's gotten my brewer's spark going. My latest build is also a "let's take all the good cantrips I own" deck I built after watching matches in the Vintage Super League: Grixis Doomsday.

Just wondering: are you broadcasting "live" from Island or Ireland?

Looking back, Sarkhan Unbroken is actually a wealth of flavor. His abilities may just seem "good." But flavor-wise this whole card is delicious. After having his life 'saved' by Yasova and being catapulted forward in time and gaining access to blue mana, he is now Temur Colors. His plus one is card draw and access to any color of mana, which is a bit of representation of his status as a walking anomaly now. He's weird, he can use almost all five colors of mana now, and even if he doesn't have access to white, he can create it via time shenanigans. He's practically the antithesis of Ugin, who is no colors of mana.
edit: Potentially actually Sarkhan might be approaching a state where he becomes similar to Ugin, where he masters all five colors of mana and then transcends them completely.
His -2 is again a nod to his status as a completely changed being. Instead of becoming a dragon, he creates them from nothing. I like to imagine he creates a temporal clone of himself that then becomes a dragon.
And then his -8. Oh boy his -8. I get all Vorthos here, it's so cool. He's pulling dragons from across time and space using his paradox powers. As an anomaly that shouldn't exist, he represents change in the timeline and things happening out of order. His ultimate is a manifestation of that, pulling every dragon that Sarkhan has experienced out of his personal timeline to do battle for him. He has finally achieved mastery of dragons, even as he has become a walking paradox.
Sorry, had to do my lore nerd stuff.

I agree with Alex that everyone enjoys diffrent formats in a diffrent way. For example my definition of fun in Commander is playing Blightsteel Colossus on turn 3 and watch people desperatly search for answers. I'm a monster.

My interpretation was that he's tapping into the dragon tempests Ugin creates, so, tapping in a little gives creative energy, a bit more creates one dragon, and fully unleashing the tempest brings out all the dragons.
Tiny leaders sounds neat, though I'm concerned with the restriction on casting cost this could be an expensive format, since the lower cost versions of spells are usually higher priced.
White has Planar Collapse for a lower cost quasi-wrath effect. For when you want to wipe the board next turn

I think Jokulhaups is pronounced more like yo-kull-pour (at least in Iceland, I would need to look up the international phonetic alphabet to do this correctly).
I think putting all your dragons onto the field is AWESOME. But if I get the card in a pack I will trade it to a friend who loves dragons so much he has had a deck of mostly dragons for years.
