The main reason for this is that if a player leaves the game they may need all of their cards back, so the game can't assume any of them are still around, this logic extends to tokens as well just to be consistent.

This holds regardless of where the cards are, including being on the battlefield under someone else's control.

Not yet- but I am studying to pass the rules advisor test. I'm skipping becoming a true judge for the time being due to not having Fridays/weekends off to make good use of such a qualification.

Here's the latest version of my update to Alex's Kuldotha Red deck seen in It's Magic, most of the changes here are to the sideboard
Steacy Special wrote:3x Curse of Stalked Prey

3x Darksteel Axe
3x Trepanation Blade

3x Goblin Chieftain
4x Goblin Gaveleer
4x Memnite
4x Perilous Myr
4x Spikeshot Elder

4x Goblin Grenade
3x Increasing Vengeance
3x Kuldotha Rebirth
2x Red Sun's Zenith

20x Mountain

Sideboard:
1x Karn Liberated

3x Darksteel Plate

3x Forge Devil
2x Torch Fiend

3x Incinerate
3x Infernal Plunge
I added Karn and Darksteel Plate to the sideboard to give the deck a bit more longevity should it need it, the rest of the sideboard pretty much deals with field control.

Karn can be out as early as turn 3 (double Memnite, double Infernal Plunge, 1 extra mana from land) allowing him to deal with threats like Predator Ooze that mono-Red can't handle very well (if at all) at the moment.

Karn also lets the deck come back from a potentially poor midgame by resetting, and while he powers up (ideally by exiling land to give you a headstart) Darksteel Plate gives the Goblins some much needed resilience, guarding the +1/+1 & Haste benefit of the Chieftain, the tactical strike of Spikeshot, or making a rather nasty 3/1 indestructible trample with Gaveleer.

It's possible to create an infinite damage loop with Goblin Grenade and the flashback effect of Increasing Vengeance. Cast Grenade, double it with IV, then flashback IV targetting the first IV, which then targets the second IV and the damage spell.
Expensive, but possible, at 8 mana (not including the mana ramp of Infernal Plunge, allowing it to run as early as turn 4 with similar methodology to Karn) and 3 cards (4 including the unfortunate goblin).

Pretty sure this doesn't work... if you want to go infinite with IV, you have to do the flashback one first, and then play another IV (either normally or flashed-back) second. So that the IV spell you're copying is the triplicate version, not the duplicate version. Otherwise, each time an IV resolves that was targeting an IV, you get one more IV, which just replaces the one that just resolved... rather than infinitely growing the stack.

But if you do the flashback one first, then the stack goes:
[burn: you][triplicate: burn][duplicate: triplicate]
[burn: you][triplicate: burn][triplicate: triplicate]
[burn: you][triplicate: burn][triplicate: burn][triplicate: triplicate]
[burn: you][triplicate: burn][triplicate: burn][triplicate: burn][triplicate: triplicate]
etc, as long as you want, until you just point them all at the burn spell, and let them all resolve.

Also, you can't flashback IV to target itself (as it's not in the graveyard until after it resolves), so to do it your way would require already having an IV in the graveyard and another in your hand anyway.

I'm fully aware of that, usually I burn one on a Kuldotha Rebirth turn 3 for 6 Goblin tokens.

Well, I'm happy; I pulled my very first planeswalker from a booster.

Funny story about that. I was shopping with my friend, and we both bought three boosters. After opening his first booster, he was unimpressed, so asked if he could swap my second booster for his second booster for "better luck". The booster he gave me contained Sorin Markov. The one he took from me was apparently pretty mediocre.

I'm pretty happy.

I know someone from my local shop's FNM that has something like that, but it's the Typhoid Rats with the Black Cat in the background. It was pretty awesome.

I think I'll make one out of poison counters, for poison counting. This way I won't need to carry ten of them around.

I go with a d20 for life (although I regularly go over 20 which makes it less practical) but for poison counters since getting the real deal I've been using it.

But I'm also the person who has a box of various tokens, all in the sleeve that matches their colour (silver for artifacts) when everyone else in my draft group just grab ad cards or use an upside-down card from the ones they're not playing.

I just played in my first real life draft. I Have never really played magic the gathering before besides duals of the planeswalkers. I have enjoyed the game vicariously through the LRR Drafts and wanted to give it a shot.
I came in first. I am very happy.
The deck was the following. It was a Dark ascension 2x Innnistrad swiss draft.
1x Beguiler of Wills
1x Manor Gargoyle
1x Screeching bat
1x Civilized Scholar
2x Diregraf Ghoul
1x Grasp of Phantoms
1x Moan of the Unhallowed
1x Moon Heron
2x Forbidden Alchemy
1x Griptide
2x Screaching Skaab
1x Grave Purge
1x Claustrophobia
1x think twice
1x Dead Weight
1x Stormbound Giest
1x Headless Skaab
1x Walking Corpse
1x Spectral Flight
1x Stitcher's Apprentice
9x Islands
8x Swamps

Now I have 6 packs of dark ascension I am not sure what to do with I think I will just open them up to see what I get.

Token creature to represent the spirits you get from spells or effects, such as Lingering Souls or a dead Doomed Traveler. Boosters include a token of some sort, such as an ad, a token creature, a poison counter or a deck sub for cards with transform.

Personally, I use two D10s for health in decks where life gain is a possibility, and a D20 when it's more unlikely.

The card checklists are actually real cards, and replace lands.

Tokens are made of using a different printing process, and always have an ad on the back to prevent them from being used as real cards.

Ah, my bad. I knew that too. The sub cards would be useless if they didn't have proper backs, wouldn't they?

Speaking of boosters I pulled my third Vault of the Archangel today. I was stoked when I got the first - I had just put together a WB deck (that turned out quite effective actually) - and the second was like cool, I'll chuck that in as well for a better draw chance, but the third? You can only give all of your creatures lifelink and deathtouch so many times, eh?

So I sorted all my cards by color then set, rarity, and mana cost. I noticed a trend that certain sets favored one color more than others.. Good news is I think I can work out a great deck outta these.
I'm thinking blue/black or green/blue. Suggestions?

I was also greatly surprised. I fully expected to lose horribly and have fun doing it.But apparently I drafted a really strong deck, at least compared to what everyone else did.
