Just have a Thragtusk in play and play worldfire you will win, a guy at my FMN played a deck with this and went 3-2, but i think he only won a few games on worldfire the other games he just beat people with Thragtusk, Fiendhunter and other creatures

I was thinking more like, with Hypersonic Dragon in play, play any burn spell (a good cheap one being pillar of flame) then, while it's on the stack, play worldfire.

worldfire is a sorcery, so I believe the instant resolves first.

No that is not how it works. No matter if it is a instant, sorcery, ability or what ever. It is always last on the stack, first thing to resolve.
The reason you have to have something to give it flash (Hypersonic dragon in this case) is that normally you can't cast a sorcery unless the stack is empty

Couldn't you just cast Pillar of flames, then in response to your casting cast Worldfire? So Worldfire resolves with pillar still on the stack, which then resolves.

with Hypersonic Dragon on the field, yes, which is what I was getting at. Normally you couldn't since Worldfire is a Sorcery.

How does a card with protection from a certian color do agienst a card that has more than one color, one that it has protection agienst and a diffrent one that it has no protection agienst?

Protection only cares about the color it names. If a card has protection from a color, it has protection from multicolored cards that have that color.

Example: Knight of Glory blocks Rakdos Shred-Freak. The Freak is both black and red, and Knight of Glory has protection from black cards, so the Freak will not deal damage to the Knight.

Slightly more humorous example: Anything with "Protection from [color]" has protection from Progenitus, since he is all five colors.

Kapol wrote:...I just realized that Hypersonic Dragon makes Worldfire much more viable.

I was actually just looking at trying to use that with Alchemist's Refuge from Avacyn Restored, but it's probably much easier with Hypersonic Dragon since they have colors in common...

I believe its safe from that color, just like Elite Inquisitor is safe from Human werewolves, or Immerwolf can be blocked by green red or artifact.

Good, so my Devout Lightcaster will be good agienst the Golgari and Rakdos cards that my brother is sure to use. (He uses a black/green/red deck)

*looks up Progenitus* lol, that'd be quite the stalemate.

I found out my local two-headed giant pre-release is basically going to be two people doing sealed then playing together. That kind of sucks, since it means we can't pool cards. I'm trying to decide what I want to do for it. I was going to go Selesnia/Izzet before since they aren't colored together. But now... not sure. I think that might be best still, but I'd prefer getting a third Grove of the Guardian considering I think it's the best promo art.

worldfire is 10 mana, its never going to be really viable in anything except very casual games and commander, and even then if you're playing with more than one person, thats going to be tough to pull off.

also I was so confused earlier because i was looking for hypersonic dragon on gatherer and couldn't find it. but i guess its a RTR card so yay.

and frankly an easier way to use worldfire is just exiling something with and oring or having a thragtusk or thragtusk simile

so i had to make some BIG changes to my main deck which is a self-mill graveyard deck. losing some big weapons with the set rotation. Green Suns zenith and Birds of paradise were painful to take out. also made my first attempt at building a deck from scratch. spent a long time going through my collection and came up with a black/white deck built loosely on vampires and 4 xathrid gorgons. its very rough atm. will prob tinker with it loads. will post my 2 decks later.

prob going to miss the ravnica pre-release. at eurogamer expo on sat and missus wants me to go shopping on sunday. grrrrrrrrr

Been looting through the M13 set online trying to find some shifty tricks for my unorthodox exalted deck and I just had an idea, Stuffy Doll as the creature you throw at your opponent with the exalted buffs.

Also pity you cant get to the pre-release, I've got greedy and booked myself two spots for the Saturday and Sunday one being held out here.
Gona get all kinds of silly with the Rakdos or get big with Golgari, cant decide.

Wow, this is tragic. Worldfire is one of my favourite LOL Commander cards, and it's been banlisted.

From the moment Worldfire was spoiled people was expecting it to become banned in EDH/Commander because it is a card that either said that what ever has happened in this game so far does not matter or i cast this, float mana to cast my commander and i win the game

Yeah, but expectations don't change the fact that it was hilarious and that I am sad to see it go. In fact, one of the judges at my store sold me a Worldfire on the proviso that I play it in EDH and then run away laughing.

Guess it's only funny so many times. I actually can see why it was banned. It is still sad.

The shop here banned worldfire from commander games release week with the explanation of "Cards that have a condition of I win the game are banned for being not fun. They have a whole list of those cards.

Yeah, we discussed the banning of Worldfire a couple of weeks ago by comparison to some of the older "I win" cards, but the guys that run the store came down and said that unless you're being a dick about your setup, which is tricky because it's not reliable, Worldfire screws with you just as badly as it does anyone else, so it was left off the banlist at my local store. Now is a different story, of course.

So I'm torn. I took the quiz on GuildsOfRavnica.com and it says that I'm part of the Orzhov Syndicate, but I read about the Azorius Senate, and I like them a lot too. So I have two guilds and they are on different releases.

What to do!?

BTW, what guilds are you guys in?

Do the obvious. PLAY ALL THE GUILDS!

I actually got Simic the first time I took the quiz. Then I got Azorous, Izzet, then Selesnia twice. I'm going Selesnia for RTR then Simic for Gatecrash. I think Simic is my favorite though. I like the idea of nature and technology meeting as Simic, from my understanding, implies.
