Right. My main point was more that Atheros isn't worth going white for just because of him. At least in my opinion.

White also has the best enchantment-based removal, like Pacifism and whatever the new O-Ring is. Not only that, but removal like that deals with indestructible threats like Xenagod.

Question, save moolah to buy a box of conspiracy to play at a later date? Or use that moolah to play vintage masters drafts and hope to make it rain?
Oh-h-h-h SNAP... Concede.

I'm consider buying a box of conspiracy myself if I can get one at MSRP.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
Wizards have said that Conspiracy isn't going to be a limited-release thing, like Modern Masters or FtV or whatever, so hopefully finding it at MSRP shouldn't be too much of a challenge...

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
But that's not likely how it's going to work at first, sadly. There's going to be a ton of demand, and a bunch of stores are going to charge as much as they can for the first print run. It might get easier after that, but it's going to be a bit more difficult to get the first run.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
I don't think I have the right group of friends to draft conspiracy with. It seems a bit too wacky for the regular crowd at my LGS, but I don't have enough Magic playing friends for a home draft.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
That's why I'm on the fence about getting a box myself. But the way I figure, if I can get 3 casual friends, a four-man draft wouldn't be too bad for this format. But it's still kind of eh to do so.
EDIT: Thinking about it, I might just buy a box and use it to make a 'cube' after drafting it the first time. Just a fun little thing to do when I have friends over.

That's what I was thinking of doing. Buying a box of Conspiracy, draft with it, then make a cube out of it. I might end up spicing it up, too, with one of those junk boxes of Modern Masters you see. You know, the ones people cut into, take the chase rares out of, then stuff with the junk and sell it for way cheaper? It still might be filled with fun stuff, and could you imagine drafting some of those conspiracies in a Storm deck? O.O

Fleeting thought: Ability Words, like "Parley", don't have any actual rules associated with them - they're more what you'd call guidelines for how the ability they're attached to works.
[edit]
Fleeting thought the second:
You know, for those hero-card-and-Unhinged-legal tournaments that are all the time running...
There's actually surpisingly few targets for this thing... and only 8 in Standard. Akroma's Memorial is probably the most reasonable option.

At last, they are fixing the lag issues with multiplayer on MTGO! At least I hope so... Please...Please.... I really want to play EDH again without it lagging out so that tapping my lands takes 5 minutes...

Despite initial claims, Conspiracy is not a limited product, it is print on demand. While there might be an initial shortage (the same way there was for Born and Journey) this is actually a manufactured shortage meant to push product through the distribution chain -- there will be a glut of conspiracy in follow-up waves. Any vendor trying to pass it off as a limited product either hasn't heard that it's print on demand now, or is trying to fleece people.
MSRP per pack is the same as any other pack in standard right now. While packaging distribution hasn't been released yet, I assume given the two row box we've seen in videos that it's in 24s like Modern Masters was rather than 36. This means that box prices should correspond to less.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
That is what I thought it was, except the display box shown (with 2 rows) totally didn't look like it was 18 packs deep.

I counted 18 on the right side and at least 16 on the left.Del wrote:That is what I thought it was, except the display box shown (with 2 rows) totally didn't look like it was 18 packs deep.
Going by possible miscounting, it's still more than 24 total, and 36 makes sense.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
There are definitely fewer packs in one side than the other, but that makes it seem more likely that one or two was taken out for some purpose or another. Like, maybe they cracked them so Graham could show off the cards in his cutaways.

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
That's certainly likely, and Graham did say on TTC that they made sure there was a Lore Seeker in the draft, so maybe it came from a pack that was opened?

As I mentioned before, it's true that it's going to be a unlimited print run and therefore will eventually settle at MSRP most places. The issue though is that there's going to be a ton of demand as soon as it's released. If not for drafting (which uses a lot of packs) then for the chance to open stuff like foil brainstorm. I don't think it's going to have as heavy of an initial release in terms of quantity as actual sets due. Mainly because I don't think Wizards is entirely confident the set is going to sell as well as the sets that affect standard (which is a reasonable worry honestly). So I'm guessing the first print run is going to be overpriced. Not as much as MMA was mind you, but still a fair bit more than your standard box.
Also on the subject, I wonder why they went with the normal amount of 36 packs. As a draft set, it seems like it'd make more sense to go 24 like MMA. Or at least something like 30 in case of stuff like Lore Seeker. Like if they had made a 27 pack box available for $30 cheaper or something, I'd have been all over that.

That was my thinking and hope as well. It's a lot easier to move/split a full draft pod of packs than 1.5

Re: The General Magic: The Gathering Thread
At least with 36 packs, there's more of a chance for Marchesa.
Also...
Siege Dragon
Cost: 5RR
Flying
When Siege Dragon enters the battlefield, destroy all Walls your opponent controls.
Whenever Siege Dragon attacks, if your opponent control no Walls, it deals 5? damage to each creature without flying defending player controls.
5/5
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS???

Welp, due to a terrible run at a fat pack I am now the lucky(?) owner of three, yes, count them, three copies of Master of the Feast.
