My Lore Seeker pack is usually Innistrad, because it works SO WELL with CNS.

Edit:
I sometimes like to troll my draft group and go for Homelands or Fallen Empires. Otherwise, it's more Conspiracy, or whatever's just come out.

God help me, I'm brewing Standard. AND THERE'S NO BLUE IN IT.

...there is black though. I'm not a complete monster.

I've been drafting Khans and so far I've only had any luck with Mardu or Abzan. So No Blue is not actually that bad sounding to me.

Especially as the two seemingly most prominent 1/1 deathtouchers are in white and black.

So, instead of doing slightly hard work I thought I'd ask all the lovely people in these forums if you could help find a G/B constellation deck list. Preferably not too expensive though.

The blue in M15 was a secondary color it had some strong cards but a deck in blue was never Mono blue or even BU or RU it was always W spalsh u, G splash u.

And again in this set I think White is the best color followed by Green with Black and Red being solid, I dont even think about blue unless its my third color on my tri-color gold cards. I look at the cards and say "Thats meh, thats ok, I could take that but I dont want to" then I look at any of the other colors and say "thats good, thats strong, thats ok, thats unplayable"

I've had generally good luck with Temur, and Green facepunching in general. Blue provides great support but I definitely need the meat of other colors to give the blue stuff to do.
When the upkeep takes longer than the main phase, I know I've done my job well.

Holy crap, you guys, have you seen all the changes that Organized Play is making to FNM this year? LITERALLY EVERYTHING is FNM-legal now. That's awesome.

Video of the announcement

Short version: Every format ever, including a number of unsanctioned formats, plus "invent your own format" are now legal for FNM. Go nuts!

(Do yourself a favour and don't read the YouTube comments... YouTube community plus Magic community equals... *shudder*)

Wizard's Tower, by the by, is a fun little format me and my roommate tried when he got a Theros fat pack. I recommend trying it at least once.

I think that the change really promotes the "fun Magic night" atmosphere that they want to cultivate for FNM. By not forcing a store to adhere to one of a few select competitive formats, FNM can become a more community-stylized event, which is a very positive change.

I couldn't agree more. I stopped going to my local store's FNM because the only format available aside from a monthly draft was extremely competitive Standard, and I just couldn't hack it. But if my store gets in on some of these new ideas, I'll definitely start going again.

There's this weird tension in gaming communities, from the point of view of stores. The competitive players don't typically spend the most money, but they are influential, they are looked up to, and they drive a lot of the conversation on forums, so alienating them is bad. So you can't just make things all causal all the time. But you can't make it too competitive either, cause then the more casual players who don't want to have to keep paying to keep up with standard get discouraged losing all the time, and those players are the ones buying boosters, so are valuable to the stores.

There's a lot of cool economic decisions going on around that stuff, prize structures, premier events, casual events, leagues, etc. Interesting.

Speaking of leagues, the latest TTC inspired me to go talk to the owner of my local store about starting a Sealed League. Will report back with the results. If anyone cares.

You'll have to go into more detail Ze, I haven't seen it.

This is a thing that also happened a Honolulu PT, though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t0pzLnSWw0

Im pretty sure the change to FNM is in response to Star City Games. Star City has created its own Promo system they are farming out to LGSs their marketing material was specifically "Your players hate being locked into only playing standard on Fridays"

If I were you, I would temper my excitement, though. If a particular local game store has a very competitive environment where most of the regulars want to play competitive standard (or draft, or whatever) it seems unlikely to me that this change would really affect them.

On the other hand, it really frees up larger stores to go wild, though. Good Games Newcastle could easily keep its competitive standard FNM going, along with a rotating "Lots of things!" style casual event.

(ALSO BACKDRAFT YOU GUYS HAHAHAHA)

That is very true; it allows for a lot more freedom for larger stores to have smaller events going. Also, stores with a less competitive customer base (those stores that run standard/draft because they have to, but whose customers are mostly Johnny and Timmy and not Spike) will find this a real boon.

I was referring specifically to the people saying that stopped going to FNM because it was too competitive, and just trying to gently encourage not to get your hopes up. If the players were really competitive before, they will probably still be really competitive now.

Other than FNM foils and advertising it as such, what advantages does an event get from being labelled "FNM" anyway?

I think it changes the way the planeswalker points are distributed? For those that care about that sort of thing... I don't know the details.

Well whatever the points used to be called before they were Planeswalker Points, used to give you player rewards (textless cards, mostly), but they don't do that any more.

I guess you get Byes at GPs now?

I don't pay a lot of attention to that stuff. Not good enough for it to matter. My quickest path to the Pro Tour is probably judging (and that's sloooooow).

I think one of the big things is also the simple fact that stores that want to be part of the Wizards network thing HAVE to host FNM pretty much every week. Without it, they lose access to a lot of perks.

I really have no opinion on the change.
