Holy crap I hadn't thought of that interaction between Doubling Season and planeswalkers. I suppose that explains why Doubling Season is *taptaptaptaptap* THIRTY dollars right now and nearly solid out o_O

Yeah, it's a big interaction too. Online I ran into Doubling Season into Sarkhan Vol... 4 mana for 10 dragon tokens... bye bye.

Alternatively, Ajani, Caller of the Pride for 3 mana to bring out x 2/2 cats. If you're in a game of commander and get that off turn four of five, that's likely to be a lot of cat.

I'd really worry about board wipes with that one.

Grimgrin, 3 Blood Artists, and a pair of Mortus Striders. I feel so dirty.

Something I just realized. When someone plays Devour Flesh on one of your creatures, does that mean they played a spell that makes you eat one of your own? O.o

Huh. So, I go to FNM, first pick Nightveil Specter over Holy Mantle, end up seeing Boros looking open around picks 3 and 4 but stay the course and end up with a quite nice Dimir control/beatdown deck.

Then I come home and watch the LRRMtG Twitch archive, and see them first pick Nightveil Specter over Holy Mantle, end up seeing Boros open around pick 4 but stay the course and end up with a quite nice Dimir aggro/mill deck.

I ended up going 4-0, and walked away with a Boros Reckoner for my troubles... still looking forward to seeing how the LRR one goes.

I played Dimir/control last night too and got second. I was super surprised at how well it did. Call of the Nightwing + Hands of Binding are beastly.

Magic itself is mocking me now. I've opened over 55 packs total of Gatecrash, including a full booster box. Yet I've not opened a single shockland so far. I've also been playing some phantom sealed Gatecrash. I started one, and what was in my pool? TWO SHOCKLANDS. Sonofa...

Probability of opening zero shocklands from 55 packs: about 0.9%.

Anyone else super excited for Sorin v. Tibalt? This is the first MtG product I've ever pre-ordered, since I love Sorin's character. The decklists and a runthrough of a few skirmishes using the decks were posted to Daily MTG earlier this week.

So Sorin, Lord Of Innistrad AND Hellrider? I'm not sure what other money rares it has, but it seems like it's going to be a good value.

I certainly wouldn't mind another Sorin...

That said, anyone else think "Sorin vs Tibalt" sounds kind of lame given the relative power of the Planeswalker cards themselves?

Just putting it here in case but I'd think the next vs might be a Jace vs Ral which I would SO buy considering if Ral is relatively playable. (I acknowledge the fact that Jace has been in vs' decks before: Jace vs Chandra) Considering the storyline in RTR block. Sorin vs Tibalt seems cool for grabbing Sorin and hellrider (never got into Dark Ascension & Innstrad much) and just getting Tibalt for the sake of it.

Just wanted to inform the people who doesn't check Daily MTG that the 4. "You make the card" has begun. If people want to influence what cards is being made go vote:
http://wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/238
The 3 previous cards YMTC made are:
Forgotten Ancient
Crucible of Worlds
Vanish into Memory

Yep, I voted for land, because I love my utility lands.

I voted for Enchantment because I'd love to see more viable enchantments. It's such an under represented card type.

Confession time:

When playing constructed I try to keep my deck to 4 rares or less. My Undead Alchemist deck could do with a bunch of Dimir rares, but I have to get by without them, since the Alchemist is rare and I need all 4 of him

Therefore, when I beat someone, even on MTGO, who has a deck full of nothing but rares, and I'm just milling/exiling them, I feel much more smug than I really should.

if you watch the current Star Craft 2 trailer that is running on the escapist if you watch just after the cannons fire.

They won the axebane challenge.
