Whoa, Cryptic Command is 60 now? I got mine at 10 each...

And the textless foil Cryptic is still available online for only 60-70 at some places? If you can afford it, buy those ASAP, because the Cryptic Command price spike is new, and the promo price probably just hasn't adjusted yet, but it's currently 70 dollars and out of stock on Star City, so I guarantee it'll be going up SOON.

A friend wants to make a Black/Green deck for Standard and asked me for advice. I legit have no idea about deck construction so I'd figure I'd ask here. Any idea what goes good in a Black/Green deck? I suggested Pack Rat and maybe Doom Blade.

Depends on where he wants to play it - if black is well-loved there, doom blade is simply useless in a lot of matchups, so it's best in the sideboard. Cards that are likely to have uses across matchups are devour flesh, ultimate price, bile blight, abrupt decay, Hero's downfall and putrefy (doesn't have to run all of them, but those are some suggestions).

I should've been more specific when I said maybe using Doom Blade. I'm not really quite sure where he's planning to play or what's used a lot there so it's usefulness is rather limited depending on the situation.

Typically Mono-Black is pretty popular in Standard, so I'd also recommend against main-deck Doom Blade. Hero's Downfall, Devour Flesh, and Bile Blight seem to be the best options given what I've seen, but take it from me with a grain of salt, I don't play standard, I mainly do Legacy and Modern.

Also, Thoughtseize is always good, unless you're against Burn.

Reaper of the Wilds is also a nice threat you get to run in B/G in Standard.

I really like the G/B "Dredge" deck in standard right now
If interested found an article that talks about the decks, the card choices and how to sideboard

So. Here's what I sorta put together to recommend.

Bile Blight
Herald Of Torment
Pain Seer
Burning Tree Emissary
Undercity Informer
Nightmare
Doom Blade
Kalonian Hydra
Lifebane Zombie
Naturalize
Corpsejack Menace
Deadbridge Goliath
Desecration Demon
Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord
Pack Rat
Rakdos Cackler
Ultimate Price
Mogis's Marauder
Reaper Of The Wilds
Tormented Hero

Also Thoughtsieze but I'm just going to give him one of mine that I held onto. Any other suggestions? Changes?

by steric hindrance
One thing that helps with deck building is figuring out what exactly you want to do. You've got some aggressive elements (Rakdos Cackler, Mogis's Marauder, Pain Seer, etc.) and some grindy ways of winning (your scavenge creatures) that don't necessarily work the best with each other. If you want to be aggressive, then you'll want a low curve (maybe stop around three or four) with efficient creatures (I'd add in things like Kalonian Tusker, Experiment One, Dreg Mangler, and Scavenging Ooze and take out, for example, Jarad and the Undercity Informer). If you want to build a slower deck, I would try to find ways to stay alive until you can get going with, say, a dredge strategy (so get good blockers and mass removal like Gaze of Granite or Drown in Sorrow). If you do end up going with a slower deck, I'd recommend Golgari Charm (stops aggro, keeps your creatures alive after Supreme Verdict, and can destroy Chained to the Rocks or Detention Sphere) and Putrefy, which will eliminate the need for a sideboard Naturalize.

This is my current standard deck. I picked it up initially as I thought it looked fun, but it's done a lot better than I thought. Pretty good match ups against a lot of stuff.

So the Planeswalker's Guide to Journey into Nyx is up.

I will assume Ajani is going to be a card and I am now excited for what abilities it will have. Also I hope this means more cats in Journey to encourage cat tribal.

I was not at all surprised lore-wise that Ajani showed up. I'm curious whether he'll be just W or maybe GW this time, probably just W.

I'm very confident he'll be G/W. The color scheme of the picture he's in pretty much guarantees it in my mind. But the fact they likely wouldn't want to have 4 different mono-white planeswalkers at the same time, two of which being the same character, also helps. As does the fact that the guide talked about him becoming a part of the leonin culture. Which was one of the reasons why people thought he'd be G this time around... the acceptance and community sense he'd get from finding other cats with the same fur coloring as him, which I believe was one of the biggest character builders, as that coloring made him an outcast on his plane.

That said, I'll likely forgive Wizards for giving W/G such poop with big things lately (Karametra and Emmara) if we get a really good W/G walker.

+1 put a 1/1 white vigilant cat soldier token onto the battlefield.

-2 Put a token of spear of heliod onto the battlefield. The legend rule does not apply to these tokens.

-7 Put X tokens of Brimaz, King of Oreskos onto the battlefield where X is your devotion to white. The legend rule does not apply to these tokens.

I'd really like a GW Ajani this time around. He's been portrayed as Naya aligned numerous times, and we don't have a GW walker yet, so it seems like the perfect time to do it.

EDIT: Or a 3-color Naya walker. I'd like either.

While I wouldn't mind a 3-color Naya walker (which would also seem appropriate, since he's the only one to take on Bolas one-on-one), I don't think a tri-color walker fits this set. It seems more like something they'd do during a return to Alara.

I find it highly unlikely that we will get another Mono white walker this block but stranger things have happened. I think Ajani might be G/W, I can't see him going back to R/W.

That does not work rules wise, as it is not enough to say it creates a Brimaz, King of Oreskos or a spear of heliod it would have to be

"Put x 3/4 white Cat Soldier creature token with Vigilance, Whenever Brimaz, King of Oreskos attacks, put a 1/1 white Cat Soldier creature token with vigilance onto the battlefield attacking,
Whenever Brimaz blocks a creature, put a 1/1 white Cat Soldier creature token with vigilance onto the battlefield blocking that creature. onto the battlefield. called Brimaz, King of Oreskos"

And that takes up a lot of space

Ah, the Un-sets. Still one of the greatest days of my Magic-playing career was when I successfully casted Chaos Confetti on my opponent, who had board control. He ended up with only one mountain and one small flyer against my green horde of trampling fatties. I even picked up ever piece, taped it all together, and taped it to my Magic box as a trophy.

I even kept a tally on the inside of the box for whenever I resolved a "Double..." spell on any of my friends. I still think I have a "Double Deal" and two "Double Play"s floating around my high school friends.
