That master of cruelties is hilarious. I don't know yet if it's any good but the ability is really strong if you actually get to use it.

Re: Dragon's Maze Previews
Put master in a Kaalia of the Vast Commander deck and you have some pretty broken interactions. Other than that I don't think advent of the wurm is going to make as big a splash in standard as people think. Vorel is cute and will be fun in limited and commander but nowhere else, Exava looks like an absolute bomb in limited, Melek is way to overpriced for what he does, Tesya is to slow to be a real bomb, 7 mana is a lot! Ruric is probably my favorite so far, if you stick him against a control deck then they are in serious trouble!

Re: Dragon's Maze Previews
Tesya actually fits perfectly into my deck both thematically and mechanically and considering most Orzhov decks are running 3 or 4 Crpyt Ghasts cost isn't much of an issue.

In that your opponents will punch you and your nose will be broken.

I dunno. I bet there's a card somewhere that triggers an appropriate curb-stomping ability when your life total goes down to a certain amount (for example 1)

Well if you play deaths shadow you would get a 12/12 for 1 black mana and you would activate all fateful hour cards, other than that i can't think of any

True, I run a tribal elemental Animar deck so I don't need to worry about being punched.
PS Deck is called Elemental my dear Watson

There is a card that if your life is one you win. Zendikar block if I remember correctly.

You are thinking about Near-Death Experience and it only triggers in your upkeep.
So you have to have it in play, then they have to hit you with the master and then you have to survive to your upkeep

Re: Dragon's Maze Previews
I think it's a pretty safe bet that if they go through all the trouble of using that guy to get you to 1, they're gonna have a burn spell in hand.

So you have to attack yourself. How hard can that be?

Re: Dragon's Maze Previews
I can't decide if I like the fuse cards so far or not...I think the majority of them will be too slow if you want to use both 'cards', but they're flexible? Beck and Call is 8 mana together in some tough colors...but drawing four cards is crazy!
Thoughts? I think they have potential, but it's tough to draw a definitive line on them right yet. I want to see them in action.
Also, do you think that three color decks will be more prevalent in limited? You have a pick from 10 guilds first pack, then 5 next pack, then 5 different guilds the last pack...it seems like you may need to supplement your deck with more colors unless you can go heavy mono colors in one of the later packs. -shrug- just rambles.

You just need Mindslaver and an opponent that has Act of Treason or something like that in his deck.
Happens all the time right?

More up to date list found at http://www.mtgsalvation.com/dragons-maze-spoiler.html, wizards take a day or two to update the cards spoiled on outside websites
Re: Dragon's Maze Previews
Trostani's Summoner is ridiculous. Four creatures for 7 mana is a lot.
Anyone seen Turn&Burn yet? My inner Izzet mage is doing a tiny tiny dance.

These will be the go to spells in limited me thinks. They basically take a small set and expand the number of cards in the set.

Re: Dragon's Maze Previews
seriously are wizards trying to break their game or something. some of these cards are ridiculous. Standard is about to get a serious kick in the ass.
that Dimir guy is insane. imagine pulling him AND a mind grind in limited. you are going to clean house.
also the Golgari Blanka is going to be insane in my ghoulgari deck. its based around getting dudes in grave = cast ghoultree very cheaply + essence harvest/sac to jarad. so with golgari blanka i can scavenge my ghoultrees for 10/10 ,for what should be very small cmc, so i have even more guys to use. just imagine having a ghoultree in my grave and i draw one and play him. scavenge the guy in the grave thanks to blanka and now i have a 20/20 ghoultree.

Re: Dragon's Maze Previews
I'm not sure if that's how it works Lemegeton. The card specifically says Ghoultree costs (1) less to cast for each card in your graveyard. Since you're not casting it, but scavenging it from your graveyard, I think it'll always cost 7G. It's ability doesn't alter it's actual casting cost from my understanding.

Re: Dragon's Maze Previews
yeah i have been thinking about that one myself after my initial reaction to the card and you are right
can still make use of blanka though to scavenge other guys onto a ghoultree so it will hit for more than 10
