Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
1) A lot of the card in the deck have a single or repeated drain effect in them, so the deck should make me gain life pretty consistently.
2) Oops, mistake fixed. Didn't see the double
3) Thanks. I added Sol Ring and Caged Sun, and have Charcoal Diamond, Jet Medallion, Liliana of the Dark Realms, Crypt Ghast and Magus of the Coffers.
4) Erebos himself is the main card draw engine of the deck, since I all the lifegain means I don't care much about losing 2 life, so I should consistently be able to draw a minimum of 1 extra card a turn. I also added Underworld Connections.
I realize now that I said nothing about the deck, so here it is: It is a mono-black brew that relies on Erebos's ability - the opponents cannot gain life, so I am going to make them lose life in many ways, while I gain life. The deck is defensive and kind of controlling: it has plenty of removal and forcing the opponents to sontinously sacrifice their creatures, as well as incentives for not attack me (No Mercy, as well as giving all my creatures deathtouch and wither).

My Derevi deck. My aim while adapting the preconstructed deck was to have a balance between Voltron, flying and/or vigilant creatures, "can't be blocked" creatures, tokens, and some counterspells.
Now, though? I've hit another case of indecision depressing me about it.
That and I plan on making a Dromoka deck after she rotates out of standard. Possibly as 1-2 of the 99 for a Selvala deck. I really don't know.
Help and/or advice, please?

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
I've decided to work toward transitioning the deck more into more unblockable creatures. Going to try and get Thassa and Kaseto ASAP.
Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
Has anyone been looking at the Commander 2015 previews? I ordered the U/R and B/G decks. They both look like a ton of fun to play.
I'm having trouble deciphering the U/R deck's win condition though. It looks like it wants to scare people off by threatening to blow up their stuff, build xp counters on its commander, and burn people down? That doesn't seem very strong. Am I missing something?

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
I think one of the main ideas is to build up xp counters for Overloaded spells. My dissappointmeent is that it doesn't have Hypersonic Dragon.
Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
After a little goldfishing on Tappedout.net, a big win condition for the U/R deck seems to be a rite of replication on a Psychosis Crawler, followed up with a large Stroke of genius. I need to try it out in a real game though.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
So every once in a while I like to collect all my decks into one post and talk a little about them, and this is going to be one of these posts. I can go more in-depth about each one if asked, but I'll try to keep it short. Any suggestions will finally be noted for every deck (I.E I'll write them down for once), so suggest away.
Mono Colour: 8
Mono White: Kemba, Kha Regent
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/two-hands-ten-weapons/
Simple Kemba voltron build. There's some stuff I should take out, but I rarely even look at this deck.
Mono Black: Patron of the Nezumi
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/a-plague-a-pustule/
Built because of Alex and Serge's talk about mono black and Pox in highlander. It's become one of my favourite decks to play.
Mono Black: Skitheryx, the Blight Dragon
tappedout.net/mtg-decks/06-06-15-dem-bones/
Another voltron build. It's surprisingly fun to play.
Mono Red: Krenko, Mob Boss
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/yes-they-really-are/
Probably the most powerful deck I own. It's constantly worked on and improved. It's rare for it to lose. I try not to play it, but if a Commander session has devolved into unfun, I'll play it.
Mono Red: Pia and Kiran Nalaar
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/13-08-15-amaranth/
I like artifact decks, and once a U/R commander for them is out, I'll dismantle this deck.
Mono Red: Heartless Hidetsugu
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/some-people-1/
I've always wanted to build a deck that works like a nuclear deterrent, and Hidetsugu works like that.
Mono Red: Zada, Hedron Grinder
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/feed-em-some-tuktuk/
I guess I like mono red? Not gonna lie, this is a hard deck to build. I feel like if Zada were two colour she'd be much better, or if it was Spells and abilities instead of just Instants and Sorceries. Still, she looks fun enough to build around.
Mono Green: Freyalise, Llanowar's Fury
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/other-tr ... war-kills/
Elves, because Elves.
Two Colour: 11
White/Blue: Noyan Dar, Roil Shaper
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/roil-stomped/
I love this guy, and not just because he got me my first 1st at a pre-release. One of my favourite ever legends. Also, he's first because the other 10 decks are all part of Project: Guild Feud.
White/Blue: Grand Arbiter Augustine IV
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/06-06-15 ... us-senate/
A deck I've never played. It's supposed to be a control deck.
White/Black: Obzedat, Ghost Council
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/06-06-15 ... syndicate/
Just your average Life Drain deck.
Blue/Black: Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/02-06-15 ... use-dimir/
A mill deck. A not very good mill deck
Blue/Red: Melek, Izzet Paragon
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/31-05-15 ... et-league/
Instant/Sorceries insanity. Works surprisingly well the couple times it's been played.
Black/Red: Rakdos, Lord of Riots
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/06-06-15 ... of-rakdos/
A chaos deck with lots of Demons. I lend it out and Rakdos the Defiler is always made commander when I do.
Black/Green: Varolz, the Scar-Stripped
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/01-06-15 ... ari-swarm/
A really fun Voltron deck. I work on this more than any of the other decks in Project: Guild Feud.
Red/Green: Ruric Thar, the Unbowed
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/06-06-15 ... uul-clans/
I wanted this to be all creatures, but that wasn't possible, so it's mostly creatures. As yet untested.
Red/White: Aurelia, the Warleader
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/30-05-15 ... os-legion/
Angel deck to balance out Rakdos's Demon deck. Built without looking through my commons and uncommons.
Green/White: Trostani, Selesnya's Voice
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/06-06-15 ... -conclave/
Token deck. Actually pretty good when played.
Green/Blue: Vorel of the Hull Clade
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/04-06-15 ... c-combine/
A +1/+1 counter deck that's stupid strong. Sage of Hours got broken real fast in it.
Tri-colour: 8
White/Blue/Green: Roon of the Hidden Realm
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/unsettlling-experiences/
My Brago deck was turned into this once I got a Roon. I was going to build a Bant Morph deck, but I enjoy flicker too much.
Blue/Black/Red: Marchesa, the Black Rose
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/26-07-15-you-will-obey/
The dumbest deck I've ever built. Willbreaker is fun and all, but I really shouldn't have built around it and bazaar Trader. I'll retool this into something decent at some point.
Red/Green/White: Marath, Will of the Wild
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/08-11-15 ... t-offense/
I wanted to build around defenders, but I didn't have enough so I ended up with this hot mess.
White/Black/Green: Anafenza, the Foremost
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/08-11-15 ... t-offense/
I plan on getting a different commander for this deck, but for now Anafenza will have to do. Enchantment based deck with Starfield of Nyx as the win-con.
Blue/Red/White: Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-roaring-tempest/
I've had this be described as a Bruna, Light of Alabaster deck with red in it and no Bruna. It's a very aggressive voltron build with as many cantrips as I could get.
Black/Green/Blue: Sidisi, Brood Tyrant.
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/omg-she-killed-kenny/
Zombie Tribal. I should probably use Gisa as my Pox general, but I want her in here.
Red/White/Black: Alesha, Who Smiles At Death
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-dead-pool/
A Reanimator(?) deck that's kinda fun, but never works.
Green/Blue/Red: Surrak Dragonclaw
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/temur-through-the-ages/
Who else would be used but Bear-punchman in an all creature deck? The only non-creature is Primal Surge for obvious reasons.
Five and no colour: 3
No Colour: Ulamog, the Inifite Gyre
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/infinite-gyre-1/
I want a commander deck for every colour combination, so I have this deck. I'll probably play it once or twice, then never again.
White/Blue/Black/Red/Green: Karona, the False God
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/the-battle-draws-near/
Ally tribal, my favourite tribe. Another deck I don't play often because it's just too strong.
White/Blue/Black/Red/Green: Sliver Overlord
http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/17-06-15-nothing-new/
Not an up-to-date version, but it's mostly the same. All the non-slivers are now slivers. I want to note that my Overlord is a Scourge(?) version, not the premium deck version.
And that's all my decks. Once again, any suggestions will be noted, and I'd love to hear what I should take out for the suggested cards. Thanks for having a look, and if you like any of the decks, feel free to try them out.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
The Izzet deck looks interesting. I'm looking forward to trying out the Izzet premade deck, and I'm looking to tweak it.
What sort of spells do you end up wanting to draw? How do you keep other players off your back?

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
I keep players off my back by not doing a whole lot of nothing until I draw into my Fireball type spells and manage to take some extra turns so I cant beat in with the Niv-Mizzes. It's played well enough the few times I've played it, but it does need something more to do.
Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
A few suggestions off the top of my head,
Pox: Rotting Rats, other rats, Blood Artist, Nether Traitor, Phyrexian Tower, Measure of Wickedness.
Red Artifacts: mana rocks, Slag Fiend.
Mirko: Fireshrieker, Mesmeric Orb & Altar of the Brood (with some kind of engine), likewise Jace's Erasure & Sphinx's Tutelage, Dreamborn Muse.
Varolz: Phyrexian Dreadnaught!
Sidisi: new set has some excellent stuff for her - Dread Summons, Ezuri, Meren. Also Acorn Harvest.
Man, that's a lot of decks.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
Fantome: I know my General is Patron, but why rats? I'm going to be putting in a copy of Pack Rats when I can get a spare, but other than that I won't want to play any more rats. I would happily use a different general but Patron has a pretty good effect for a Pox list.
Lycodrake: I'd say you could take out any of the following: Deceiver Exarch, Hada Spy Patrol, Icefeather Aven, Marang River Prowler or Mystic of the Hidden Way. Repeatable effects and one shot effects that change the board in a large way are king in this format, and these aren't the best creatures for the kind of deck you seem to be going for.

Could you fine folks look over my tweaked Izzet premade? It seems to spend too long durdling in the early game when I goldfish, but I'm not sure how to speed it up without sacrificing ramp or killing power.
Here is the deck link!
Edit: I'll be putting together a maybeboard of cards I have that look like good additions, but I can't seem to fit.

Icefeather Aven seems like a good fit for me to remove.
What kind of deck do you think I'm going for? I'm curious; that and I'm wanting to keep unblockable creatures.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
Your deck seems to be a control deck that likes to tap/ untap stuff a lot. It seems very unfocused though. What is the deck's plan? I'm very curious as I never really build a deck without the deck having a theme or strategy in mind. I'll often just pick a commander and build around it. I haven't even taken a pre-con and modded it before.

Well, this started as a modified preconstructed deck. The main things I've tried to be sure to include are unblockable and flying creatures, token generators, tap+untap cards, and a small amount of voltron.
Now, I've learned more about how to use Derevi's ability better and so am going to more of unblockable creatures.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
What is it that you're looking to untap n there? Aside from keeping mana open and creatures to block I don't see all that much that you tap to do stuff. I'd suggest maybe trying to put a bit more of that in so your deck has a bit more focus to it. I'd especially suggest all token makers

I'm not entirely sure. I've considering getting some of the larger creatures in Bant colors, or mass bounce and one-sided board-wipes?
Hopefully I'll be getting a copy of Tolsimir for Christmas, as far as "tap to make token(s)" things go.
[edit]
I could potentially get Worldspine Wurm, Jokulmorder, and Avacyn - the largest creatures in their respective colors. Well those and Sagu Mauler, Autocthon Wurm, and Ephara.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
Those all seem pretty good, but just to not, Tolsimir makes a Legendary wolf token. I'd run him as he's an anthem effect on a stick, but you'd need a much better token producer. Does Rhys the Redeemed tap to make tokens?
Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
Rhys the Redeemed taps to make 1/1 gw elf warriors, but it does cost 2(G/W).
Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
Kaorti: Mizzix seems to me to lend itself well to a durdle strategy - which is fine since you've got loads of very powerful spells and finishers. The only other thing I'd consider would be looking at some more x-costed spells, for flexibility and for getting the most out of Mizzix.
Radio: Rats for the instant-speed offering in response to a boardwipe?
Lyco: I think Rhys is only really worth it if you're going heavier into tokens, in which case also Trostani. But a few other powerful things to untap: Master of the Wild Hunt, Budoka Gardner, Mother of Runes.
C15 unfortunately brought me very little for my commander deck, so I'm trying out something new - Triad of Fates, a few ideas:
And a dozen or so more that I like the flavour of. Most important thing for me is always flavour - no Illusionist's Bracers today. Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm probably not going to invest the deck into tokens. While Bant colors lend themselves to interesting tokens - and tokens mean more creatures to activate Derevi's combat damage ability - I want to focus more on the "highest quality [budget] creatures".
I just happen to really like Wolfbriar Elemental. =P
A few flavorful cards for Triad of Fates might be Puppet Strings and Soul Strings.

Fantome: Good point on the rats. I know I'll play Pack Rats when I can get another one, but for now I won't try any. I'm not sure if I still want to play Patron as commander because I might shift the Commander to Sheoldred. I still have to put Bad Moon and Rise From the Dark Realms in the deck too.
I recently built a Triad deck and I wasn't convinced it was very good, so I dismantled it. I think it could be though with access to much better resources.
Lyco: I still think Rhys would be worth it. You can ramp big time in the deck and his finally ability makes tonnes of tokens.

Re: Commander/EDH Deck Talk
I like playing low-powered decks with potential for interesting interactions & politics, and bucketloads of flavour. Triad, Feldon & Teysa tempt me the most in terms of flavour, but only with the latter have I made it to 99 cohesive cards. Perhaps Triad will have to join Feldon in my "maybe one day" pile. But cheers for the Strings suggestion Lyco, Puppet Strings in particular is perfect.

You're quite welcome.
Thoughtpicker Witch would add to the Exile theme, as would Warden of the beyond.
