Without looking at them all (cause seriously, ain't nobody got time for that), I will say I think Aetherling belongs higher. I'd personally say he belongs as an A+ for limited, just because if you resolve him, he basically wins you the game unless you're just dead. Being able to hit for 8 unblockable every turn AND dodge removal for 1 mana (not to mention triggering evolve a LOT which is in it's colors) makes him nearly impossible to deal with. You have to either counter him, or get him while your opponent is tapped out. And if that happens, you're playing Aetherling wrong.

I really want Marshall and Kenji to officially reassess Vorel of the Hull Clade now that he knows it, in fact, doubles counters.

Because I'm anal like that.

Since I haven't watched this (or any of Marshall's stuff, in fact, except for the one time he came on the Academy draft), I'm assuming these are rankings just for limited, i.e. Sealed and Draft? Because some of the cards that are "F" should be rated higher in Constructed, like Possibility Storm.

Also, Riot Control totally needs to be nicknamed Fogulife.

yeah his ratings are only for limited. if you want a good set review that covers limited and constructed then the star city games review on youtube is quite good. and Evan cracks me up

That's why it's not called Constructed Resources.

But in all seriousness, yeah, it's very apparent when you listen to it. They mention a few times that a card is targeted at Constructed play (stuff like Notion Thief's ability is useless in Draft but amazing in Standard...Melek's library thing would be great if you made a deck that was mostly instants and sorceries and had plenty of deck filtering to make them float up).

Listening to it right now.

I personally don't much care about the ratings actually. The reasonings behind them are pretty important though. Thanks for the tip on this one, would've missed it if not for this thread.

I actually had someone at FNM tonight who thought it only added one of each type of counter too. I actually had to pull up the official rulings to prove it (he wasn't being a dick, but he was confident he was right).

Ok here is my start of an idea.

4 mazes end
4 Selesnya Guildgate
4 Azorius Guildgate
one of each of the other 8 gates

4 crackling perimeters

2 Saruli Gatekeepers
3 Sunspire Gatekeepers
3 Azorius Arrester
3 Azorius Justiciar
3 Cathedral Sanctifier
3 Court Street Denizen
4 Deputy of Acquittals
3 Lyev Skyknight
3 Niblis of the Mist
3 Geist-Honored Monk
3 Soulsworn Spirit
3 Trostani's Summoner

Hosk: while I like that deck, you will often find it's just better to start attacking and kill your opponent that way. I'd say that for a real Maze's End deck you should probably try to make it the main victory condition.

I think it needs a few more walls. I went with as much arrest as I could...

Hover Barrier, Fog Bank, Murmuring Phantasm, and so forth all make good walls. Plus, you could use Axebanes to just ramp into something big that will make sure your opponent can't kill you at that point. I think I'd intended to use that idea on another deck, but I can't remember what...

The other issue is that if even ONE of your "one of" gates gets milled off you can't win anymore.

Perhaps include some Elixirs of Immortality or something to help combat that issue?

Umm... he's running 16 gates. So they'd have to get rid of at least 6.

Another idea. Defenders, axebane guardians, and so forth for mana ramp into a primal surge to get 10 gates on the field. Throw in some card draw for good measure, or a tutor of some sort.

Not only mill, but land destruction. But yea, I forgot about that part. Maybe make your sideboard all gates in case you run into mill?
