If interest in this grows, I'm thinking we should consider having 3 Fan draft times: one that screws Europe, one that screws the US, and one that screws Australia. That way, there would be 2 options for everyone, and you're likely to get into at least one of them.

Hosk tried to do something like that, but it got complicated pretty quickly.

The plan is sometime soonish to rotate the times to alternate current time and 6 hours earlier time. The current time screws Europe, the other time will screw Australia. The trouble with the "screw north America" is that there are currently only a handful of none NA players.

Yeah. This is why I put in the caveat of "if interest in this grows" in there. If it remains at the current level, the current time is probably best.

Pack two open... Got off track, should have stayed on the mono black train, I passed a couple of good cards for the Raised and Karametras favor.

I really lost focus I could have had a BONKERS RB minitaurs deck, or a stronger mono black but I was like "how do I fit this god in"

Well, I improved to 2-1!

I got steamrolled by Omnicrat's heroic boris deck, but managed to grind out wins for my other two (although in the last match, only by Sibanamush running out of time due to board stall and some weird mtgo glitches).

P1P1 was a Master of the Feast ... but towards the end of pack two and into pack three, green was crazy open (to the point where I got passed a Mistcutter Hydra twice!), so I need to go back and watch my own replay to see if I could have switched earlier and made a stronger deck. A lot of people were fighting over white and black in my pod ...

Thanks again to my opponents! (Omnicrat, Vanarra, Sibanamush). Those were some intense games!

My deck, for the curious.

As well as the link to the replay (edit: and the YouTube playlist). I was pretty worried about my deck in pack 2, since I was mostly mono-white but picked up a few nice cards from other colors later than I should have. (Also, white in pack 2 in general.) I honestly thought my deck would end up a mediocre W/B pile, but I honestly got some good stuff. It could've turned out better had I not tried to grab green only to realize it was, in fact, not open. But hindsight is 20/20, and I still went 3-0. So, yeah.

I dont want to say "you got lucky" but you NAILED your land drops to get him down. I dont think you missed a single land drop, overloard on 7 or 8 is just nuts.

Maddrius I think you did really good this week. I might have made a couple changes, I wouldnt have taken the gold-forged sentinel that highly, and in this format there are a lot of X/1 and X/2's which make weight of the underworld a lot more powerful than you give it credit for.

All in all I think you did a much better job of thinking about what your deck would be doing you didnt try to force cards that were not in your decks plan and passed a few on the grounds that "its not what my deck wants to do even though its a good card"

Thanks Lord Hosk!

In retrospect, I do wish I'd gone with the Sightless Brawler over the Gold-Forged. I also wish I'd taken one of the Sun Guide's over the Servant of Tymaret in pack two.

For the weight, watching the replay I did call it "clunky" a lot, didn't I? Even one would have come in handy in a few games, so I'll have to keep that in mind going forward. I think I was fearful I was going to wind up as in the past several weeks, with a fistful of combat tricks, but too few functional creatures/enchants. I may have gone too far the other way!

And maybe Green wasn't as open as I had thought after all. I'm interested to see what the other folks' decks were like in my pod.

I dont think green was open I just think it was one of those weird aberrations that happens sometimes, the green in pack one and pack two were just weak so no one even bothered.

In our pod Pack two the white was Garbage, I think I saw 3 or 4 playable white cards. Sometimes the print runs just make a color weak in pack one and two.

For example White could have pack one packs with Armament of Nyx Lagonna-Band Trailblazer Harvestguard Alseids followed by a pack with Ajani's Presence Font of Vigor Mortal Obstinacy and no uncommons or rares in white. None of those are bad cards and presence is good but you wouldnt move into white because of those cards, and you get packs kinda like that you might have one person in the pod in white pulling all the good cards, then the mediocre cards. If someone thinks they can move in on it the first player gets cut moves out, the "cutter" realizes their mistake and moves back out, so pack three, no one is playing that color.

2-1 playing U/W this week. Can't complain as I still have a draft set, and picked up a Stormbreath Dragon in pack 3, so I think I'm up overall, cause he's still 10 tix or so.

I'm gonna miss this upcoming weekend and the one after's drafts. This coming weekend thanks to a 24 hour staff duty shift on Saturday (THE FUCKING WORST... mainly because we get a 24 hour day off after a duty shift. But that just happens to be Saturday: a day I already have off. yay.) and the week after my girlfriend is flying out to Texas and we'll be up in Dallas for the weekend.

There is a update in MTGO, so if you plan to fan draft tomorrow you will need to get the update ahead of time.
