I believe that is the intent. They joined us last time, and it was a blast.

I asked Graham during House of Stark, he said that maybe he'll get into the fan draft... it depends on timing and shooting schedules and such, and he doesn't know exactly when he'll show up. But I got the impression that if he showed up and the fandraft was firing (or if the fandraft waited for him to arrive) then he'd be up for it.

So, will we be doing sealed tomorrow? Starting at what time?

I would like to go on record that I am in favor of doing draft rather than sealed for 3 reasons:

1. The sealed is $25 as opposed to $15 for draft.
2. Sealed is phantom, so you don't even get to keep the cards, making sealed even worse value. Even if you go undefeated in friendly sealed, you still can't make up your initial investment.
3. Draft is more fun than sealed. This is non-negotiable. :P

Really though, the sealed isn't free like it was with M15. Even the EV for the draft ($15 with a payout of 4 packs for 3 wins, 2 packs for 2, and 1 pack for a win) is not amazing, but it's so much better than friendly sealed ($25 with a payout of 5 packs for 4 wins, 3 packs for 3, 2 packs for 1-2).
In this moment, I'm not a huge fan of whatthebus.

Oh, is sealed phantom? It looks like you can use phantom points to join, but it doesn't actually say it's phantom anywhere (and when I filter mtgo events by phantom, the sealed events show up under "false"). Can anyone who's played sealed already clear that up?

If it is phantom, I guess I'd prefer draft. But otherwise I can live with $25 for sealed since I figure my cards and possible winnings will enough to at least partly cover the cost of a draft afterwards. Also I just want to play sealed.

It's not phantom. Phantom sealed events are a thing (unlike drafts), but not prerelease ones.

It's absolutely NOT phantom. I did one today and I have all the cards.

I'm not certain as to why, but I guess they carried forward the phantom-points payment option from the last round of Prereleases, when they gave everyone free phantom-points for an M15 prerelease. Maybe it's a new policy to encourage people to play with phantom-points and try to earn them? Who knows. It's definitely not phantom, though.

Okay, that's what I guessed. Thanks guys! I'm still voting for sealed, then. Though if we wait for Graham and James to join, I might not be able to - Graham was guessing they might not have time until 7pm PST, and that's a bit late for me.

I am ok with starting at our normal time, even if that means missing LRR. With it being an extra round, starting at our normal time is probably for the best.

Okay, my bad then. I'm on board with sealed if it's not phantom, I suppose. They must have changed their policy, because when they gave away the M15 pre-release they specifically noted that it wouldn't be phantom. I still don't think it's very good value, but good enough.

Wait, it wasn't phantom, and now it's still not phantom... how did they change their policy?

I don't even know anymore. I thought they said that M15 *wouldn't* be phantom, implying that previous events were. Now I don't know what even.

Well, starting with M15, and now with KTK, you can use phantom points to play, but you get the cards anyway.

OK Friendly sealed seems way in the lead. When should we start?

I played one yesterday and I figured out after that the cards were worth enough for another (besides what I had saved for tonight), so I'm gonna start that pretty soon. http://www.twitch.tv/notomtolose

Also, I finally made this GIF from months ago so I'm just going to leave it here:

Oof, I might have to pass if we don't start until 7pm, not sure I want to start a 4-round sealed at 10pm my time. We'll see how it goes, I guess. I can always play by myself on Sunday if I can't manage it tonight (and hopefully have enough to draft with you guys another time instead).

If it makes you feel better, I'm in the same timezone as you and would be waiting as well. I did one yesterday, it only lasts about 3 30 hours. Can you not stay up to 1 30 AM on a Saturday night?

I could, but I'd really rather not. I'm probably not going to be thinking very well by the last match, and afterwards I may be too wound up to sleep for a while. I think I'd prefer to play sometime tomorrow earlier in the evening by myself than late tonight. But it's not a big deal, if this event is too late it just means I'm not likely to go up against Graham and James and get crushed by them. :P

Sarah, if you do wind up playing tomorrow instead of tonight, drop us a line here as to when. I'll probably be trying to do at least one other pre-release/draft event this weekend, and there might be some others who could join as well :- )

Totally understand not wanting to turn into a zombie mid-event. Or getting stuck staying up way too late and being a zombie all day tomorrow.

Thanks Maddrius, that sounds nice! If I don't play today I'll give you guys a poke. :)

And yeah, if I was extra excited and desperately wanted to play with LRR then it might be worth it to stay up. But I'll live, so I might as well be comfortable and have more fun.

Welp, I missed the sealed with LRR because my MTGO isn't showing me players :( Anyone know how to complain to wizards?

Orcs told me to file a standard bug report, so I did that.
