Gelectrode Modern Deck Evaluation/Tips

Postby Rathkor » 08 Jun 2014, 16:26

I'm pretty much a vanilla MtG player. Fine, but not great. I decided to try my hand at deck building from scratch. Gelectode is my favorite card, so I started from there and worked out.

Creature (13)
3x Gelectrode
1x Keranos, God of Storms
3x Wee Dragonauts
3x Nivix Cyclops
3x Sigiled Starfish
Instant (12)
3x Lightning Bolt
3x Magma Jet
3x Titan's Strength
3x Brute Force
Sorcery (9)
3x Assault Strobe
3x Distortion Strike
3x Serum Visions
Enchantment (6)
3x Aqueous Form
3x Curiosity
Land (20)
10x Island
10x Mountain

I plan on adding Steam Vents and Sulfur Falls to the deck, but at the moment I don't have the spare cash to buy a full playset of both. Any other advice would be much appreciated.

I'm also thinking of adding 3 Mizzium Skins for added protection, but no idea what to take out.

I know there was a variant of storm out there that used to run gelectrodes & wee dragonauts, but I am not sure how it has fared with the banning of seething song. It used grapeshots as payload, and had a couple empty the warrens in the board. That being said, storm is by no means a budget deck anymore with the harder to find commons/uncommons like gitaxian probes, manamorphoses, serum visions & sleight of hands.

That's what I like about this deck. Only cost me ~$50. I'm not looking to speck it out into a full on Spike deck. Just wondering if i can smooth any rough edges.
