It's been mentioned that we'll see some more interesting things from Morph later in the block, though obviously they couldn't get into specifics yet. As for Outlast, yeah, it's not immediately clear when you should up them early game (though all the sliver-like effects that care about counters might provide incentive to miss a turn just to activate), but don't forget, there are times in games (at least in limited) where your early creatures just sit on the board, too small to attack and block profitably. At that point, outlast becomes an interesting mana-sink to make them more relevant.

I think you're normally going to want to Outlast at least once, and then you can use it at parity. That one outlast will make the 'sliver' guys pump everyone you control up, making your guys a lot stronger. Like... flying and FS at uncommon and common levels worries me a bit.

All of the outlast creatures seem to pass the vanilla test, so there's no real downside. As Kapol says, they become good at parity, so if you can draft/build a deck designed to do that (there are some good walls for that), you can use them to pull ahead. That's my plan anyway. Going into the prerelease picking Abzan.

After a lot of thinking I decided upon Mardu for the prerelease; it was a fight between Mardu, Temur and Abzan, and Mardu has the advantage of being able to field all those nice Abzan white Outlast creatures - as well as field both Sorin and/or Sorkhan! I like Ferocity too, but I guess not as much - possibly because of the blue in it. I was continually wishing it could be red/green/black instead of blue - but then it would be a shard and not a wedge, of course!

I may be suffering nostalgia for blocks I never actually played.

Going in for 2HG with Abzan and Mardu. We figure that Abzan would have the strongest endgame, but in order to have the army build up we need a clan that can hold down the fort until that point. Sultai seems too difficult to make work in sealed, and Jeskai is just too janky. My friend ruled out Temur because it felt too control-y and Abzan was already doing that more or less, so we went with Mardu to keep the pressure on our opponents.

We'll see how that works out in the end.

Still can't make up my mind. I like Mardu and Jeskai most of all I think, but I could be kind of happy picking anything for the prerelease. Might just have to base it on a hunch when I get there.

I'm going Jeskai. I've always liked the white, blue, red color combo, and monks are awesome as well.

Came up with the best nickname for Temur Charm during SGDoc's stream: Hunt the Leak

Not sure if people had already seen this, but just ran across this browser-based tool that someone had put together to simulate sample card draws for a prerelease pool.

http://copper-dog.com/mtg-generator/ktk/

It's not perfect (there has been some question about the correctness of the seaded pack in this thread ... http://www.reddit.com/r/magicTCG/commen ... generator/ ), but it's been a great help for me to do some prep for this weekend's events.

(Basically, you click on your preferred clan from among the grey buttons, then click "Generate my sets!" and scroll down to see your theoretical pool).

Thanks for that Maddrius, you've just upped my anticipation for this weekend. I'd started to get a bit down on things, but I'm really looking forward to this.

Combined with going to stay with some friends for the weekend, and going to a different game store, I'm just counting the hours until I get out of work. :D

I'm going with Sultai. A clan centered in black with a graveyard theme? Yes please!
