MTGO Assistance

Postby Atifexe » 21 Sep 2014, 18:02

So I'm having an issue with MTGO. Whenever I attempt to start it, the 'Verifying Application Requirements' window appears, and if there's an update, it will be downloaded and installed. Unfortunately, that's where it stops working. No error message, no pop ups of any sort, the window just closes and any related processes disappear. I can't find any trace of MTGO installed on my computer aside from the shortcut on my desktop, and I've already tried reinstalling in an effort to fix the issue. Does anyone have any experience with this problem?

The only time I've had that issue was when I tried to open the v.3 client after v.4 had gone live.

Hmm... Well, I did re-download and reinstall the client, so I should have the most recent version. I was using the beta before the beta became the official client, and had no issues up until recently.

What's your environment like? What version of Windows? A virtual machine, or on the metal? What graphics card, and are your drivers up-to-date?

What you're describing is exactly what happens to me, running under a virtual machine, if I leave graphics acceleration turned on in the VM settings... if I turn that off, and restart the VM, then MtGO works. I don't know if that's useful to you, but I know MtGO does some weird things, graphics-wise, and checking your graphics drivers probably wouldn't go astray...

I have 64-bit Windows 7 Home edition as my only operating system. The only change that I can think of between when it was last working and when I first noticed it was no longer working was starting to play World of Warcraft again.

Actually... Does MTGO use Java? Because I recently installed the 64x version of Java in an effort to improve Minecraft performance. Could that be the cause?

I'm pretty sure MtGO is done in .NET.

You were correct, MowDownJoe. After a couple of days of backing and forthing with Wizards customer support, the issue was finally resolved by simply running the .NET Framework repair tool.
