My first Modern deck

I decided to slap together a deck list for a Modern build, and I wouldn't mind a lot of criticism.


Land (23)

4x Clifftop Retreat
1x Glacial Fortress
2x Hallowed Fountain
4x Sacred Foundry
4x Steam Vents
2x Sulfur Falls
3x Temple of Enlightenment
3x Temple of Triumph

Instant (16)

4x Boros Charm
4x Electrolyze
4x Lightning Helix
4x Path to Exile

Planeswalker (3)

1x Ajani Vengeant
1x Ral Zarek
1x Venser, the Sojourner

Creature (14)

4x Cerodon Yearling
4x Monastery Swiftspear
4x Seeker of the Way
2x Snapcaster Mage

Sorcery (4)

4x Gitaxian Probe

Fetch lands would help the mana base, but of cause they are expensive, other changes on the mana depends on other changes to the deck.
I think i would play 4 Young Pyromancer & 4 Delver insted of seeker and cerodon
You should probably also play 4 x lightning bolt as it is the best red spell would play them instead of boros charm.
I am not sure what the idea is with venser as his +2 doesn't really do much in the deck.
I would also look to get in a few Serum Visions and treasure cruises but not sure what i would cut for them

I could probably make some of the changes you mentioned just with stuff I have lying around. don't have everything, obviously, but I SHOULD have some delvers and pyromancers.

as for defending myself on the Venser inclusion:

a) triggers prowess
b) more for the -1 to force in damage
c) the +2 can both blink a land to keep up mana for snapcaster or instants, and can help me regain control of anything of mine that might get stolen.

that said, I can understand reasons to cut him.

Consider blistercoil weird? Theirs a cool deck called "cantrip paradise" that you might be interested in. It's a cool combo deck based around blister coil and paradise mantle.

Also, drown in sorrow wrecks your deck, you need to be VERY fast to win.
