re-posting updated guidelines with some verbiage changes (to make it the latest post and therefor hopefully easier to see)

Randus2003 wrote:well then, lets kick this off now that SOI has hit MTGO;

1st - the requirements to submit:

1 - a screen shot of a regular sealed pool (that's a pool of 90 cards including basics) showing the build clock or league deck save. or 7 screen shots showing 6 packs (the open product screen) and your whole pool.
edit2:
clarifying statement: you are aloud to switch your pool up until the deadline at which point I will download the posted screen shots and the pools will be considered locked.

edit1:REMINDER: a pre-release sealed pool comes with an extra rare (91 cards) and is there for not the legal size for the Runners sealed league.

edit2: given recent events - If you wish to use a pre-release pool I will allow it for this season only! assuming that there is only 1 foil rare/mythic rare in the pool (aka the promo card) that can be easily removed. I will not allow this in the future so please plan accordingly.

2 - your MTGO name (if it's not already in this thread).
3 - your timezone (this I a new request that will hopefully make setting up a time to have your match easier).
4 - a vote in this: https://strawpoll.me/7393632 curtesy Omega_Lairon (this is not required but recommended if you want your opinion heard). also please don't vote unless you are playing (to prevent skewing the results).

2nd - the deadline:

I'm thinking noon on 4-24-16 moonbase time (with that said if people want an extra week I could be convinced to push it out some).

3rd - side notes:

1 - remember all are welcome new runners and old (so spread the word).
2 - reminder: the only thing on the line is bragging rights so please come to have fun.
3 - round 1 pairings will go up shortly after the submittal deadline.

4th - k, I'm pretty sure that's everything may you all have good pulls.

and in an attempt to keep everything in 1 post I'll put this here also:

if you chose to help someone out, that is between you and them, so I don't care how you chose to go about it....just as long as the pool is posted under there name.

to that end if anyone wants to play but can't financially support it don't be afraid to ask for a sponsor here...us runners tend to be a giving bunch, just don't feel hurt if someone isn't able to help you out this season becuase there will always be a next season.

side note: if there are other questions that you feel need clarified/answered please feel free to PM me and I'll do what I can to get back to you in a timely manner.

Cool, yeah, if anyone needs sponsoring and is okay with that arrangement, I could do that for one person.

I might be a few hours late in posting my pool so, it might be afternoon for me instead of noon.
All packs are screenshoted but I haven't had time to upload/put them together for the full pool.
Hope that's ok.

Whelp that's time folks, I'm currently counting 13 submitted pools so the next person to submit will get in (you know to avoid those pesky byes), after that we go to the pairs of 2 rule in order to join. With that said I'll try to get round 1 pairings up in the next few hours (currently watching the PT w/ about 4 hrs left).

scores at end of round 0:

(0-0-0) abanytar
(0-0-0) AdmiralMemo
(0-0-0) AliceK52
(0-0-0) Antitonic
(0-0-0) Atifexe
(0-0-0) Auserker
(0-0-0) DeathNDecay
(0-0-0) Hacofo
(0-0-0) KeiranLC
(0-0-0) Omega Lairon
(0-0-0) Randus2003
(0-0-0) SaloAbraxas
(0-0-0) Zarbit

round 1 of 8 pairings:

DeathNDecay vs KeiranLC
Auserker vs Hacofo
Zarbit vs Atifexe
AliceK52 vs abanytar
SaloAbraxas vs Randus2003
Antitonic vs Omega Lairon
AdmiralMemo vs X

x = bye or next person to submit a pool

notes/house keeping:

- Hi, I'm Randus and I'll be your tour guide, be sure to check here weekly to get your pairings.
- Welcome to the SOI season of the LRR Fan Sealed League and good luck to all over the next 8ish weeks.
- Incase it wasn't clear: To those new to the League each round is 1 week long.
- In regards to the possibility of bonus packs the no extra packs won the vote so that's the plan.
- Given there is currently a potential for a bye this season this is how I plan on handling it:
1 - Each player will only get 1 bye at most.
2 - If you know you won't be able to play a given week tell me before postings go up and I'll give you the bye (assuming you haven't already had it).
3 - The bye will be assigned at random among those that have yet to receive it.
4 - If more than 1 player invokes rule 2: I'll ether postpone the week (3+ players) or default to rule 3 among those that will not be able to play and have not already gotten the bye.
- please remember to post your scores in green, this is so that I can easily find them to update pairings.

Omega Lairon (Omega_Lairon) [2-1] Antitonic (JakeWaffleman)

Game 1 was back-and forth, Game 2 was super-aggro for me. Game 3, MTGO decided that that wasn't fair, so gave me nothing until I mull'd to 4, and nothing to play after that. Could've been good, but here we are.

The friendly game afterwards was fun, went to a game 4 due to double Triskaidekaphobia. Incidentally, I found an easy way to remember how it's spelt: Risk AI.dek

SaloAbraxas 1-2 Randus2003

game 1 was slow and grindy (taking SA 15 of his 25 min to kill me) as SA drew most of there deck.

games 2 & 3 on the other hand - I switched up my colors and just keep turning guys sidewise end in game 2 in 5 min and clocking SA with there at 1 life and my fiend 1 draw from the actual kill (instant I needed to turn on it's delirium was my next draw)

over all I would say good games were had for both sides (minus a few mana issues)

Match 1 was informative.

Things my deck is good at: digging really deep to find answers and win conditions.

Things my deck is bad it: actually having win conditions worth digging to...

Atifexe 2-0 Zarbit

After MTGO lagged and I wound up F6ing through my first turn of the first game, Zarbit was kind enough to skip the second turn to even things back out. Solid aggressive plays from my opponent were met with timely removal on my side, including a Sleep Paralysis on the Goldnight Castigator that was threatening to annihilate me. I stabilized at 2, drawing a Mindwrack Demon and playing it alongside a Sanitarium Skeleton, then cracking in for 10. My opponent then honorably conceded.

Game 2, we both had issues. I accidentally mulliganed a fantastic hand, and once play got rolling, Zarbit seemed to have difficulty drawing creatures while I kept getting a convenient mix of tap abilities and little guys.

Final Conclusion: Castigator is terrifying, but against Pacifism/Claustrophobia effects, it could actually be a liability.

Both games were surprisingly close on tempo, with the second game being a race against how fat a vampire could get :)

Great games, better luck next round.

AliceK52 2-0 abanytar

I spent game 1 attacking with two drops, and abanytar's werewolves were too late to turn the tide.
Game 2 was, sadly, decided by abanytar getting stuck on two Mountains.

Also my deck was a pile of garbage. Don't forget that. I think that was crucial to my failure in as of yet undefined ways. ggs!

Auserker 2-0 Hacofo

Game 1 was very even on the ground, however after drawing Nahiri and removal I was able to slowly take control until Angel of Deliverance with delirium was able to clean the board and swing for the win.

Game 2 started with my taking small amounts of damage from an semi indestructible wolf, I was then able to draw some land and cast Nahiri and clear the board. My creatures were then swiftly dispatched by more removal. However once Sorin came out to play two +1's were able to dome Hacofo for the final 10 damage required. I guess Bob does do it wrong.

Both games were fast paced and fun makes me look forward to playing more of SOI.

Omega Lairon [0-2] DeathNDecay (Allenzo)

One thing I'm noticing about playing a very black / "graveyard matters" deck is that I tend to get a bit too fancy with throwing away dudes on bad attacks or blocks, not really stopping to consider that yes, I *could* make use of some secondary effect of them being dead, but maybe it's not strictly better than just... not killing them off in the first place and maintaining a battlefield presence?

*shrug*

Credit to my opponent though, they had some real quality dudes seemingly all through the mana curve, and ample ways to capitalise on their strengths. Game 2 in particular came down to one big threat which I found myself powerless to block - left to watch on as my remaining life points slowly drained away.

Still, good times were had.

AdmiralMemo (AdmiralMemo) [2-1] Antitonic (JakeWaffleman)

I think I'm noticing a theme :P

Game 1 was an aggressive venture, but some back and forth plays. Game 2 was worth 1 land. Game 3 decided I needed all my expensive spells, but no land to use any until the turn after I was already dead.
