Yeah, the only way she "protects" herself is by always giving you at least one blocker. So, she's weak to opponent's aggro, but she certainly feels more like a Constructed card than a Limited card.

I can definitely see her fitting into a constructed deck if that deck exists. However this format sounds like it wants to enable (not force) slower decks, so you might be able to pick her up early and play control. Even if you don't ramp, if you can pay four draw two twice... that's pretty darn good for limited (although not necessarily mythic territory).

Yall seen the new Warcaller?
Insane! I dare say that in Commander, this card will make a killing. A definite include in my future Abzan Ally deck that will use an enchantment called Conspiracy to make all my creatures Ally so any token / ETB effect (Resto angel) will equate to immence amounts of damage.

I'm not sure it is. Most people seem to think it's a fake (revealed on a completely unknown channel, holo covered up, it being a rare now). I would however be totally ok with it being back :D

MaRo has confirmed the reprint (indirectly, at least).

Maro often doesn't know what is actually in a set, especially concerning reprints. He also answers questions quickly, and often assumes that the asker knows what they're talking about. This isn't even close to definitive proof.

On Void Winnower, a spell that costs XG has a CMC of 1 while anywhere but the stack; however it has a CMC of 1 + X while on the stack. As a spell is placed on the stack prior to being 'cast', a spell with XG must be cast with X being even (thus making the CMC odd) with a Void Winnower in play.

Wait, MaRo doesn't know what's in a set? Even if he only does R&D and not set design, I would expect him to at least know the current setlist by heart.

EDIT: I stand corrected on the Sovereign not being real. It's on the Wizard site now.

I also just found a tweet from Magic France linking to the video that spoils Felidar Sovereign.

I had done a bit more research on my end, and with that tweet as well, it looks to indeed be a proper spoiler.

However I will stand by my earlier skepticism, as the quality of the video spoiling it left a lot to be desired.

Fun thing btw, Hero of Goma Fada is riding an actual Felidar Sovereign.

That Legendary merfolk ally has my EDH/Commander deckbrewing mind racing. I almost want it to be a standard/modern dud just so he'll be bulk and cheap.

Soooooo, here's a thing. I don't know whether it's a big thing...

You can Awaken the Man-Lands. They become a 0/0 with some +1/+1 counters. If you use their ability, they become, say, for Lumbering Falls, a 3/3, and the counters are still on it.

Not nothing.

As noted, because of the way it's templated, you can awaken already-awakened things, and they get bigger.

Also, they are colorless creatures. Also possibly (but who knows how big of a deal) relevant.

Just remember if you give your man-land counters after its activation has resolved, it will have base P/T of 0/0 and not 3/3 (in the case of Lumbering Falls) for that turn. (This isn't likely to come up often, but you can't save your 3/3 from dying by casting an instant with Awaken to give it 1-3 counters.)

You _can_ however have an awoken man-land, and leave mana up for the threat of activation.

The awoken lands being colorless is definitely relevant, as colorless matters is at least a medium theme of the set. (See Dust Stalker.) It won't be relevant in every deck, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on when considering picks.

With so many lands that come in with abilities, plus so many enchantments/creatures that have Landfall, I'm wondering if playing a land and having that trigger like 5 different effects to go on the stack will be the new normal.

Personally, I'm just looking forward to building a creatureless deck of lands and Awakening spells that I can name "A Pile of Dirt". I hope it'll be functional, and not just fun.

The full spoiler is out! Made a quick pass through.

There's a bigger-than-I-expected "when you gain life" effect out there with black, which in general sounds like a bad one to go for (in limited, at least). Black and white have a reasonable number of incidental life-gain spells and lifelink creatures that are pretty good even without the life gain. We'll have to see if it's good enough to make the 'when you gain life' ones worth it.

I haven't seen them, but I would guess they're pretty typical build-around-me cards. You won't want to first pick them, but if you get a few good engine cards for the deck, you might consider sliding into it.

The build-around archetypes they've been putting out recently haven't been the linear archetypes of MM2; rather, they've been optional routes that you can consider, especially after you've become familiar with the format.

Well there was Riftsweeper, that interacts with any exiled card so long as it wasn't exiled face down, so there's some precedence for this.

Reading up on how they got that eldrazi mechanic to where it is now, the "AWOL" zone (aka super-exile) was kind of where they started, interestingly enough.
